I would suspect that magma would act the same way as sea water does with the pull of the moon. When it is high tide way down in the Earth, things move.

Yes. The land surface rises and falls as much as three feet during tidal maximum. Not an express elevator, but some creaking and groaning wouldn't be unexpected.
