Kerry Lawyer: Does Re-election Warrant Public Trust? (US Senate Electoral Challenge odds now 33%+)
MSNBC ^ | 12/27/04 12:11 PM ET | Keith Olberman

Posted on 12/27/2004 10:17:42 AM PST by gopwinsin04

Fighting words were issued last Thursday evening, as America got out of town for a holiday weekend.

In signing on the Gibbs court bid to preserve evidence of the Ohio recount, John Kerry's Ohio attorney, Daniel Hoffeimer told MSNBC's Countdown program: 'Only then can the integrity of the entire electoral process and the election of Bush-Cheney warrant the public trust.'

Surely, I'm not going out on a limb her to think that Mr. Hoffeimer and the Kerry-Edwards campaign dont think the entire electoral process and the election of President Bush doesnt warrant the public trust?

The infamous 'regardless of the outcome of the election' phrase in Kerry's only post concession comment on the vote was so subtle in both temporality and meaning that it could have been insterted in a statement dealing with any eventuality ranging from a clearly determined vote, to a still undecided result.

Those Fighting words issued came just eight working days before the Electoral College votes are opened before Congress and Maxine Waters can crawl all the way out on the limb of a formal challenge.

There has been 'very serious' contact among the staffs of leading Democrats in both houses about the implications of an electoral vote challenge, according to a congressional figure privvy to the contacts.

He estimates to MSNBC that the chances of a US Senator signing on with a House member (as required by rules of the Electoral College) has in the last week risen from almost nothing, to upwards of a 1/3rd.

And the chances of a successful challenge still stands at zero.

You can't tell the Democrats anything....you just have to let them explore the inevitable results of their obsession.

Naah. I don't think it would happen unless it was the Senator and representative from Ohio.

They will look awfully silly if they stand up and challenge electors that the representatives from Ohio say are legit.

They are doing this to raise money from the Tin Foil Hat DUmmies.

Everyone already knows Jeffords is a flake, that's probably why they have targeted him as well.

Boxer said that she had already agreed to this challenge in principal but she wants support from the Ohio congressional delegation in return..(Kucinich, Kapture etc)

Considering where Boxer comes from, and the fact that her state keeps returning that shrieking baby-killer to the Senate, she can be as outrageous as she wants, without any fear of paying a political price.

IMO .. they are doing this to figure out what they did wrong

The provisional voting didn't work out like they planned

People actually paid attention to the voting rules and Mary Poppins wasn't allowed to vote five times

Recount until you get the number you want. It doesn't matter what happens on election day. Just keep recounting, "finding" new votes, recounting, "finding", recounting, "finding"... and pretty soon, before you know it, you get the result you want.

Just like they did it in the great state of Washington.

True

But by trying to pull a stunt like this .. she effects the rest of the party and those in office
