The Constitution mentions the right to pursue happiness? Where?

Yesterday, I made some people furious by mentioning the Articles of Confederation as an example of a failed charter of government (which it is). They thought I had referenced the Civil War.

Makes you laugh, throw up your hands, and go hunting. Doesn't it?

The pre-amble specifically states the purpose for the whole union. Of course you are technically correct - it does not use the word "happiness" - just "... establish justice, provide for the common defense promote the general welfare, and ensure domestic tranquility ...". From memory I think it is close a bit slippery this morning.

The right to Pursue happiness is in the Declaration of Independence.
