A bus filled with passengers has been seized by gunmen in Greece.

Police are surrounding the vehicle in the Athens suburb of Marathon and have said that more than two dozen passengers are on board.

Initial reports suggested that the two armed hijackers were Albanians, but they have now reportedly identified themselves as Russians.

The bus driver and ticket collector managed to jump out of the bus and alerted police when the incident started, while a female passenger also escaped.

The gunmen have said that if a new driver is supplied and they are taken to Athens airport, they will release all the hostages, and negotiations are currently taking place.
