NATALIE Portman has apologized for a quote in Allure magazine she says was taken out of context. "I'm not black, but I know what it feels like." The magazine got a flood of reader mail blasting Portman's insensitivity. Now she's backtracked. "If I had spoken more articulately, I might have conveyed what I truly feel," Portman writes. "I could never know what it is like to be a black American ...

Hey...if Steve Martin can be a poor black child, why not Natalie Portman?

Nope, I'd say interpreting the Bible literally (and insisting that everyone who isn't a "born-again chr*stian" must fry in Hell for all eternity) while having one's @$$ kissed by atheist liberals is an experience those of us who aren't black Americans will ever know.

From Natalie's bio:

Natalie and her family lived in Jerusalem until she was 3 years old. Due to her father's medical training and career advancements (her father is a obgyn doctor specializing in infertility), the family then moved to Washington D.C. in 1984, and then on to Connecticut in 1988. They moved again to Long Island, New York (Syosset) in 1990. That's where she lived until her acceptance to Harvard in 1999 which made her stay 4 years in Boston. She studied psychology there. She now lives in Soho, NYC.

Her favorite city is Paris and favorite country Israel.

I have to say it really sounds like Natalie understands the "black" experience, whatever that may be.

Natalie Portman and Tina Fey are two left-wing morons who I would "tap into" regardless of their politics. Just put a muzzle on their mouths first.

Harvard educated, good looking and yet no common sense. She put her foot in her mouth to the point where Dr. Scholl's should make oral products for her.

Racism is a strange thing. Any mention by a white person about understanding being black, and all hell and damnation is heaped upon the head of the one daring to utter those words. All blacks, however, are free to tell us what it's like to be white and tell us everything that is in our minds, hearts and souls.

I sincerely and with my deepest regrets for offending any readers, apologize and apologize and apologize. This has hurt me deeply."

Hey, how come no one ever apologizes to me like that? If I'm offended, it's always "you Nazis need to respect the rights of others to free speech!"

"Her letter was brave, humble, and refreshingly lacking in defensiveness," Allure editor Linda Wells tells PAGE SIX. "And since it ran we've gotten a ton of letters supporting her."

Only an old-style, hypoicritical Jewish liberal would take one position with regard to American Blacks and the opposite with regard to Israel's "palestinians." No, scratch that. An old style, hypocritical "palaeo" would also.

This U of Chicago grad will tell you that being a Harvard Grad isn't quite what it was 50 years ago.
