If this little confrontation upsets KBH, imagine what else will be facing in the months ahead if she proceeds with her gubernatorial plans.

I'm not very pleased with her "service" as a Senator. I don't want her as Governor. She should just fade away gracefully.

Isn't the GOP something to behold here in TX?

I mean, the GOP is the party in all of TX. But one would be mistaken if he believes that every Pub here thinks alike.

Funny how that works.

Before this is over, Comptroller Strayhorn may "stray" into the mix as "mediator."

HAHAHA...so much for getting in touch with your consitutents! KBH needs to get appointed ambassador to Somewhere in '06 and move on down the line.

This was a set-up by Governor Perry - and she had every reason to be mad.

Governor Perry, here in Texas, has embarked on a demented scheme to convert all of our freeways into toll roads - at close to 20 cents per mile (do the math). This amounts to a huge tax grab, and I, for one, don't appreciate it.

I want to see him rot in Hell, and if it takes KBH to send him there, that's fine with me.

And, by the way, her Senate voting record is not that bad - there are a lot of worse Republicans.

Wonder if illegal aliens were mentioned in this meeting.

I don't like either one of them. Surely, there is someone better? Someone that really cares about doing the right thing; instead of their own selfish agendas.

"We need to be better connected to the state. We need to be able to have access. We need to be able to communicate," said Hunt, who's donated almost $200,000 to Perry in the past four years, campaign finance records show.

Well, dissing a possible gubernatorial nominee is NOT a way to keep connected. Business people need to be flexible, and keep all options open.

I'm sure glad we have this thoughtful forum, where the substance of the candidates positions is discussed and debated in detail, rather than the mudslinging display in the MSM.

/sarcasm

Senator Hutchison Holds Tense Meeting
with Perry Supporters in El Paso

Excerpt:

EL PASO (AP) — U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison reacted angrily recently after several El Paso business leaders suggested that she not challenge Gov. Rick Perry in 2006 because their large campaign contributions to state leaders have increased the city's influence in Austin.

During the private luncheon last week, Hutchison, R-Texas, was asked to instead run for re-election for the Senate. She responded by denouncing the role large contributions play in state government, some of those attending said.

The meeting was organized as a briefing by the senator on various issues, but several Perry supporters turned the conversation to the upcoming gubernatorial election.

Many of those at the meeting agreed the discussion got severely strained after some of the business leaders mentioned their large contributions to Perry, also a Republican. Hutchison has said she hasn't decided whether to run in 2006.

Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my Texas ping list!. . .don't be shy.
No, you don't HAVE to be a Texan to get on this list!

What about Don Evans? Could this be why he has left the cabinet and returned to TX?

Strayhorn (and all her aliases) truly is a RINO and I've refused to vote for her every time her name comes up. I still remember her as the liberal mayor of Austin (I realize that last phrase is redundant) when she was Carole Keeton McLelland some 20+ years ago.

As for Perry and Hutchison, I have my gripes with both but I'd rather we not have a battle royal about it and let a Democrat sneak in. I don't honestly know why KBH wants the job.

I don't think KBH would be a strong Governor. She is just ok as a senator not strong not weak just ok.IMHO.Perry has a lot under his belt and has the democrats number. The press and the democrats would love to see him gone.

Earlier this week the news was covering KBH's position on stem cell research and acting as if they were surprised she would support such research. I'm no fan of KHB either. I have not cared for the responses coming from her office anytime I sent correspondence on various issues but particularly illegal immigration.

I heard on a statewide radio news network last week that in a poll taken asking who was preferred, RP or KBH for gov, she was favored 2 to 1 over Perry. He is not popular and is truly a RINO and was a Democrat until it became evident that only Repubs could be elected statewide.

Perry came to my hometown several years ago, had his picture taken with some low-life Dems ( the Dems loved it because the people are so low they were an embarrassment to them) and sent it out in campaign literature. He has been unpopular here among Repubs since then.

I was called by a push poll being put out on behalf of Perry. I got the impression that they were trying to gage public reaction to the KBH positions which the Perry people thought might be KBH's weak points. Of course, I couldn't be sure, but I'll bet the calls are limited to a list of Republican supporters. Getting ready for the primary, obviously.

KBH is pro choice on abortion and she has been trying to obfuscate her liberal positions to the pro life community. I have one very good source that had a "run in" with her staff over Roe v Wade. She doesn't like people telling the raw truth over her voting record. Her public demeanor is lady like, gracious, feminine and all that but she shares John Kerry's attitude at being confronted with the consequences of your actions. However, she has been very popular in Texas senatorial elections and we will see. It seems to me that as governor, she would be more like Ma Richards but with a pretty face, fashionable style and better spoken.

In other words, this group had already bought their way into Perry's pocket and they don't want to have to do it again with somebody else. Screw that. Run Kay Run!
