When the U.N. Fails, We All Do

'In a sense things got better after the peacekeepers left,' Rusesabagina told me. 'People realized no one was going to help them'By Fareed Zakaria
NewsweekDec. 13 issue - You have never heard of Paul Rusesabagina. But if you watch the stunning new movie "Hotel Rwanda," you will never forget him. The movie tells the true story of Rusesabagina, an "ordinary" Rwandan, a hotel manager, who was able to shelter and save more than 1,200 people—Tutsis and Hutus—in the midst of the Rwandan genocide. He is a Rwandan Schindler, who in a series of amazing improvisations—using contacts, skills and herculean effort—managed to keep his flock alive.

Rwanda was a failure at almost every level, but certainly it was a failure of the United Nations. But let us be clear what we mean by that. It was the major powers—the United States, Britain, France—that determined the exact nature of the peacekeeping mission. It was they who insisted that the force stay neutral. (France's actions were even less edifying, since it was reportedly a big supplier of the Hutu Army.) The United Nations failed in Rwanda because we failed.

the 'collective mea culpa' does not work; it is facile and weak as those who insist in going there.; but it does let Bill Clinton get a goods night's sleep. . .while just 'going there' by someone elses 'first hand account'. . .was enough to keep most sleepless for a long time.

.A most horrific reading on the Ruwanda genocide and one that includes 'Paul'; is a book called 'We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will be Killed With Our Families: Stories from Rwanda, by Philip Gourevitch (01 September, 1999)

not true. When the UN fails, the UN fails.

We don't. We usually get stuck with their mess, so I resent the attempt to pass blame for UN ineptitude on to the USA or UK.

The UN constantly fails in whatever it does. Add to that the corruption that seems to be everywhere in the organization, and you get a political body that has no real purpose or usefulness.

When the UN fails, the goals of the socialist one-worlders fail.

Good.

The Republicans are very sensative to the registration levels. If they see a move to a Third Party by a goodly number of their people, they will start to worry and well they should.

"When the UN fails, the Jihad loses credibility."

Where do they go from here. . .and where will the failure end. . .

Fareed

See here, Fareed, no one believes that. The UN fails, we all fail? The UN behaves as a criminal organization, existing on graft and kickbacks, performing little useful work for which it was intended, and failed years ago because of it. It only reflects on the operators and confidence men who run the joint, and on no one else. It seems, almost inevitably, that another organization will replace it in the effort to prevent war and ensure peace. And invariably, it would do a better job than the UN. It's time that people faced the reality and quit trying to prop up the UN.

Ruwanda, like Sierra Leonna and just about every other genocidal situation of the last 20 years is about Islamic fundamentalism run amok. That the UN cannot control, indeed supports and coddles these factions says it all. The UN is a front for Islamo-fascism. Nothing more, nothing less. The UN security counsel is not only sympathetic to Jihadists and anti-Americanism it is a front for it. That apparently no one can see that or is speaking out about it is incomprehensible. "When the UN fails We all Fail?" Indeed.

The failures of the UN are the failures of the UN alone. That Newsweak and MSNBC and other grovelling academics and mush headed elites can even suggest such an insulting and puerfile thesis is, imo, beyond comprehension. The outrage that freepers should heap on this "author" and this MSM outlet should, imo, scorch their earth.
