Interesting. Since I used to live near there, I'm interested in activity in that area. These unexplained deep movements are rather disturbing, IMO. Still, we haven't been monitoring such things all that long. Perhaps they're normal activity that occurs from time to time, and we just haven't seen it before.
OTOH, there was recent earthquake activity in this area, with one quake over 6.0, so it is troubling.
Could an earthquake be purposefully triggered by, say, a deep underground nuke in the fault area? If yes, then it could make sense to take a dollar in pennies and to have frequent triggered discharges of accumulated seismic strain so as to get multiple small less destructive earthquakes rather than surprise big ones.
Are you still in CA or have you left the state?
I am a native New Yorker. Hurricanes are the biggest natural threat to NY and then, only on Long Island. So it came as a great surprise to me, several years ago, to experience a small quake.
Same here. Sold a home in Paso Robles in 1976 for $42000 that I bought in 1975 for $30000. If only I could have held on to it for 20 more years..
Uffda! With all the knick-knacks midwesterners have all over their shelves, that could cause some serious breakage!
One is always surprised at what lurks in the night when one gets a brighter light.
Actually, what I find interesting is the map of the pacific rim countries and how the earthquakes have increased around that rim .. just this year alone.
I'm in San Diego. San Andreas is north of me, but another fault (forget the name) rules San Diego. San Andreas could trigger that fault - in which case San Diego would be out in the ocean, or blown to bits when the nuke facility falls apart. ROTFLOL! Either way .. I won't know what hit me.
