We have been writing lately about Republicans. Let's pay some attention to Hillary Clinton, just for fun.
I wrote a book about her more than four years ago. The idea came from a friend, a bright former-Republican-now-Democrat who thought my Wall Street Journal pieces on Mrs. Clinton's looming senatorial candidacy could be turned into something longer that made the case against her. 2) In the list of Republican Presidential Candidates, isn't she leaving out the most formidable? (Condi Rice)

Who's on the Republican bench? Asks (one of my very favorite pundits) Ms. Noonan. She follows her rhetorical question with a rich list of Republican possibles. One of which with I respectfully, but vigorously, disagree. John McCain.
McCain will be a Republican primary candidate, certainly. And, just as certainly, he will lose in grand fashion. Even with all the media approval he is so obviously courting.
What does this have to do with Hillary? Hillary knows that she might well win with the clandestine help of this well-known miltary hero and alleged conservative. So, I predict that Hillary will either
(1)secretly sponsor McCain's 3rd party candidacy, or
(2)offer the Dem veep candidacy to McCain (which he'd "reluctantly" accept).
Either way, I predict that McCain will be running against the Republican candidate, and will be assisting Hillary.
