Gelatin gets 8-year-old suspended Officials say cups look like Jell-O shots Wednesday, December 08, 2004 By Rob Nelson West Bank bureau The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office took samples Tuesday of Jell-O snacks that were brought to school by an 8-year-old Terrytown girl to determine if the concoction contained alcohol. The youngster was suspended Nov. 29 from Geraldine Boudreaux Elementary School after school officials said the snacks given to her by her mother in small, clear plastic containers resembled an alcoholic mixture commonly known as "Jell-O shots," said Jefferson Parish public schools spokesman Jeff Nowakowski. ... In televised reports, Noble denied there was alcohol in the Jell-O and complained about the system's punishment of her daughter. Under the drug policy, the girl can return to school Friday if she completes an assessment program, undergoes counseling and submits to a hair test to make sure she is drug-free, Nowakowski said.

Perhaps they will also now suspend all of those students who come to school with 'shoe bomb look alikes'.

How about TEACHING students so that they may be productive members of society instead of getting their knickers into a twist over the "appearance" of Jell-O.

Most of these educational supervisory personnel are '60s veterans and completely paranoid.

Undergo counciling?

They don't even admit it had alcohol. Unless there is some sort of Jell-O counciling that's new in schools. The way the government spends money on schools, I wouldn't be surprised if there was.

See, we told people that Mary Jane would make them nutty. :-)

Sounds like cruel and unusual punishment for an 8 year old.

What about all the look-alike vodka coming out of the water fountains?

When I was 8, a kid at school gave me some gum... Too young to realize it was ex-lax gum... I laugh about it now. No one got into trouble even though I spent the better part of my evening on the toilet. He pulled the same prank on a few other students.

No wonder Cosby had such a big grin on his face when he was plugging it.

I guess the three day suspension from school for the eight year old is better than Mum losing her kid to social services, because the eight year old took Mum's party vodka jelly shots out of the fridge as a joke.

Confusing reporting...I read the mother is a loser that works in a bar and makes alcohol jello-shots and sells them on the job.

The first I read and heard of this story they WERE alcohol Jello-shots.

Our schools have been invaded by a group of liberal idiots trying to prove to the world that the billions we are spending on education is worthless.

And this from a state where the state had set the school standards so low that I taught young adults who had graduated from high school with honors, but were double remedial (English and math) when they went to college....

Teach first, worry about jello second.

The year was 1981...At our school we had a 25 metre swimming pool. An end-of-year prank organised by some enterprising final year students was as follows. The group of ten, who were all boarders, bought hundreds of packets of powdered red jelly-crystals (aka Jello in the US)and surreptitiously emptied the contents into the pool at night. The next day the whole school could see that the poll had been transformed into one giant red blob. The Criminal Congealers were caught red handed, when a few empty containers of the stuff was found under the bed of one of the criminal masterminds.

So because of Jello, they were banned from the school.

Never mind testing the kid. The teacher should be sent to the mental hospital and tested for sanity.
