I'm just a red state man trapped in a blue state place. Thank God for FReepers.

This is my little vanity, since I'll probably never post it.

I believe in limited government. I believe government taxes us way too much. I believe there is too such a thing as a free lunch, and the only ones getting it are the bureaucrats and career politicians. I do not want or need government to take care of me or my family. What I want and need is for the government to get out of my way and leave me alone so I can take care of me and my family.

I believe the Constitution should be interpreted according to original intent and founders' intent. Documents consisting of words written on paper do not live or breathe. Words on paper do not change their meanings unless they are either erased or rewritten. I believe that words mean things, and that precision in language and speech promotes precision in thought and reason; and vice versa.

I believe God made us for each other. I believe marriage is ordained by God and consists of one man and one woman, married to each other for life except in cases of adultery, abuse or addiction. I believe this is right and good, that marriage is proof that God exists and that he wants us to be happy, and that there is no other acceptable or workable context for marriage.

I believe in the basic goodness and industriousness of the people. I believe the vast majority are smart enough and wise enough to make their own decisions about what is best for their lives. I believe the people can govern themselves, and that means local government, as close to the people as possible.

Though I believe in the goodness of the American people, I also believe there is one and only one true God, that He created us for His glory and honor (we did not create Him for ourselves), that we were each born into sin, that He will judge each of us, and that each of us will spend eternity either with Him or separated from Him.

I believe almost nothing on TV is any good since the demise of Homicide: Life on the Street. My FR name is taken from the last names of the two best characters on that show. RIP, Frank and Tim. H:LOTS 1993-2000. The only good nonnews show on the air now is Whose Line is it Anyway.

I believe that although I am an attorney, a musician, a scholar of history and politics, a voracious reader and a prolific writer, the two best things I have ever done were to (1) become a husband and (2) become a father.

Long live Free Republic!
