Actually in all seriousness I've been monitoring and logging both audio and text chats in their favorite chat network for about 2 years now. That's where a considerable portion of the serious chatter is happening.

Wouldn't it make more sense to set up your own private chat server for insiders only? You could protect it with encryption. It would be pretty easy with OpenSSL and such available.

I guess it would but they don't choose to do so. Who knows though, maybe they do.
But generally they tend to prefer the free services because it's easier for them to escape detection or at least identification and capture.
