You shouldn't even try to argue with the nuts in this thread. Most won't be happy unless we round up every illegal, execute everyone of them (after all, they're law breakers) and then dropping Hellfire missiles on anyone who tries to cross the border will be considered "selling out" and "amnesty".

You make a statement like this and you call other people "nuts"?

5,000 a day thru Arizona. Unchecked.

Another 5,000 a day thru the other southwestern states combined. Unchecked.

10,000 a day. Unchecked.

To say that we have "open" borders is simply offensive, and essentially untrue. It is a lie. Worse than that, it just pisses on the good work of thousands of patriots that are out there *right now* standing a post on that wall

Sounds pretty "open" to me. And I would never piss on a Patriot. The border patrol is as essential as our active duty military, and our reservists.

All serve a purpose...and the border patrol is being hobbled. It's kind of like fighting a war without affording your military ammunition. The fine work of the BP should never be criticized. When they are allowed to do it.

Pardon the rant ;)

Probably shouldn't bother now...

then let's hear your plan to stop it... and I don't say that flippantly. I really would like to hear realistic plans to stop it.

It is a three card monte game, the lips crank out the scare stories about the pubes, and the pubes call the lips un-american. The only difference I can see is the lips are more open with the name calling, and the pubes use third parties. If Kerry would have won, Bush would have pushed this through as a lame duck. Bush wins, HE pushes it through anyway. The game is over, all of America loses with this one. Who is left to speak for the fiscal conservative? The cultural conservative? For the written rules of this nation? (Constitution)

Before you get control of the immigration issue, wouldn't it be prudent to control the inlux of NEW illegals? You know the answer is yes, and the reason they are not worrying about it is because they don't care. It is a open borders policy, along the lines of what the Libertarian party supports, but Republicans deride THEM for.

It is really quite simple to find out who the illegals are. Make a ID card mandatory, with your social security number tied in. Anyone caught hiring someone without proper ID is fined heavily, anyone caught with a fake ID is imprisoned and deported. We need a national ID card anyway, to clean up the mess during the elections and cut down on the possibility of terrorists moving freely amongst us. If Bush were serious about fighting terrorists at home, and making us safer, that would be step one.

The 9-11 hijackers also had numberous false ID's and drivers licenses, without those they would not have been able to do what they did.

Self deportation.

Make life difficult for illegal aliens and their employers. Take away the goodies, start enforcing the law, and they will start leaving.

At the same time, institute a legitimate guest worker program that isn't an amnesty, such as Tom Tancredo has proposed, whereby workers must apply from their home countries. That would provide an additional positive incentive for illegals to leave.

Once the ball gets rolling, keep up the pressure and watch the stampede.

The measures that were recommended by the committee should be included in the security bill to start. Not added or attached as suggested earlier in the thread...but measures that were in the recommendation. If we're taking the recommendation seriously, why not the entire thing? No need for the tinfoil hat there, it's obvious...because it conflicts with an agenda.

The measures are to deny permanently illegal alien driver licenses (saving states major cash in litigation as a by product), speed up deportation of criminal aliens...there are quite a few.

If you're really interested in this bill, you should do a little research. Just searching FR will give you enough information to decide to make the calls. This is not about brown skin, and that's what makes me mad (since we're both on a rant).

This arguement has been degraded to the brown skin defence because there is no other. All of the measures are common sense. As common sense as the decision was to vote Bush instead of Kerry. Now you're being manipulated by groups with an alterior motive.

Call Tonite, or early tomorrow morning.

So where do I have to carry my papers? Every day, everywhere I go? Who gets to ask to see if my papers are in order? Just anybody?

It's all a big joke, man. Something all prior military understand...eventually everyone finds something worth dying for.

I saw the enemy this weekend. He is organized, he has a plan, and he's going to kick our collective asses unless you get off your couch.

You think he's got your best interests in mind?

Enjoy your beer.

You shouldn't even try to argue with the nuts in this thread. They're as obsessed with immigration as the DUers are with "Bush stole the election". Reality and reason are not possible with them so it is better to let them rant that Pat Buchanan is god and Tom Tancredo is the only man who can save the U.S.

Most won't be happy unless we round up every illegal, execute everyone of them (after all, they're law breakers) and then dropping Hellfire missiles on anyone who tries to cross the border will be considered "selling out" and "amnesty".

It appears as if you're the biggest nut on this thread. You sound just as delusional as bayourod.

I don't have a green card. I don't have a U.S. passport. How do I not get deported?

Playing silly games, again? If you are too stupid to figure that out maybe you should be deported. You seem to have no interest in the sovereignty of the U.S.

Nonsense. Where I live, NYC, they are swarming all over the place, refuse to learn English, make demands on the infrastructure, openly drink all day long, trespasss on private property with no consequence, and create a nuisance as they stand along the roadways.

These peopole want to work for cash. The employers who hire them want to avoid payroll, worker's comp, and social security taxes. It is a mutual relationship based on evading taxes that the rest of employers must pay.

Do you really believe that this will end with the worker card program???

Additionally, we have literally tens of thousands of these people committing crimes, why are they not deported?

The same way the seniors got their proscription drug program after making a stir about it, I think immigration reform is long overdue as most Americans are mortified as to the detremental effect they are having.

Although I was originally against a national ID, I have since come to the position that it would do more good that harm. My reasoning is that a social security card is essentially a national id card already. Between driver's licenses, credit cards, etc, we have already lost a lot of privacy. However, without proper documention, terrorists and illegals are getting away with murder, literally.

1. Driving without insurance;
2. Voting;
3. Welfare benefits,
4. Access to airplanes and cruise ships;
5. Ability to obtain jobs in sensetive areas;
6. Ability to penetrate national secrets.

I am dumbfounded how GWB could even for one minute believe that national security is not tied to border security and illegal aliens living here unhindred by our laws.

If the illegal aliens can function with impugnity, than so can any terrorist.
