Some DU'ers are saying this makes Fox news look bad.. I think it makes them look great. The song is perfect...

They had a pretty good hit on "CNN" too... GNN, I think it was. Had an out of touch, elitist reporter, coming home, looking down her nose at her roots. She didn't have much by the end of it.

As always. Any joke on DU can be replied to with "Haha! That's funny because it's so obvious and it fits my preconceived prejudices!"

I haven't seen this yet, got it on the TiVo, but they did Fox News before. I remember the scrolling newsbar said "New study: Democrats cause cancer" or something like that.

Ah, here it is. It was the episode where Krusty ran for Congress.

With Krusty running for congress we see another unbiased Fox News presentation;
Fox: Welcome to Fox News. Your Voice for Evil. Tonight we'll be interviewing the top two candidates for Springfield's 24th congressional district. For the Republicans? Beloved children's entertainer, Krusty the Clown. ..and for the Democrats, this guy. (Candidate appears with on-screen devil's horns, communist flag in background)
Candidate: I have a name!
Fox: Yes, I'm sure you do, comrade. I appreciate your being here, you're (switches to split shot of both candidates, and Krusty has an on-screen halo) usually so mired in sleaze (they both react) it must be an effort to come down to the studio.
Krusty: May I say something?
Fox: Certainly congressman. (switches to split shot of both candidates, and other guy is now upside down)
Candidate: He hasn't won yet!!
Fox: You make a very adulterous point! We will now conclude this debate with a Krusty campaign commercial..

During the above dialogue, a Fox type news crawl appears across the bottom of the screen;
Pointless News Crawls Up 37 Percent...
Do Democrats Cause Cancer? Find Out at foxnews.com...
Rupert Murdoch: Terrific Dancer...
Dow Down 5000 Points...
Study: 92 Percent of Democrats Are Gay...
JFK Posthumously joins Republican Party...
Oil Slicks Found to Keep Seals Young, Supple...
Dan Quayle: Awesome...

The campaign banners on the side of the Fox News van were a bit much considering Dan Ratherbiased's coordination with the DNC to smear George W. Bush (and the pajama people) with continued rants defending some hoaxed up National Guard documents that we STILL haven't been told the origins of.

This isn't the Abu Ghraib scandal, certainly they should be able to reveal the details NOW.

Didn't Sideshow Bob also run in some episode as an "evil" Republican candidate?

At DU, they call CNN a "conservative" new source.

Yup. A 1994 episode right before the November 8, 1994 midterm elections.

Matt Groening & co. are uber-libs.

Tonight's episode was genuinely good. The previous episodes this season...well, let's just say I feared for the Simpsons legacy. But tonight was a solid effort. The FOXnews bit was especially amusing--I hope the rest of the season builds on tonight's momentum. And the Simpsons should do some ribbing of W--I like nothing more than a good roast. As long as they don't get as brutal with him as they did with the Toon, who was heard to say such lines as "Hey, I'm a pretty lousy president" and (when giving a speech) "That depends on what your definition of "was" is, jerk--now give me my $200,000."

That was the capper to an episode where Lisa went to DC and at the end says, "that's a pretty lousy moral."

And Bubba replies: "Hey, I'm a pretty lousy president."

I was still nodding off occasionally during tonight's broadcast, sleep brought on by good food (mmm, Thai buffet....).

Not as scattershot as some episodes. This wouldn't have been a classic in the early years.

My favorite roast of Clinton was where the toon was at a barbecue with the Simpsons and he tells Marge how he has "done it" with pigs. "I mean real live pigs!"

" Not as scattershot as some episodes. This wouldn't have been a classic in the early years."

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree. It certainly won't hold up in repeated viewings like in days of old. But watching it once was entertaining enough. Especially compared to the earlier episodes this season--truly embarassing to behold. Even though tonight was passable, it is still a shell what the show used to be. I think the Simpsons should have wrapped it up a while ago--now they are fading away before our eyes, lingering too long on the stage. It is anticlimax.
