One thing missing from this article is the reason for these disorders. It's conservatives and Bush! It's all their fault. Homophobia!!!!!
Don't be surpised if the fat chicks on The View or Katie Couric start interviewing people afflicted with disorders "caused by Bush." And I don't mean the lower hemisphere Bush.
This is sooooo my sister. (the one that uses the Cleveland Diocese website as an excuse for her lesbian lifestyle)
She has been in and out of hospitals since she was 23. She is now 51. By not telling doctors and hospitals of her past records, she has been treated for everything from Pseudo Tumors to Lupus.
The only thing she has not been treated for is what she has. Munchausen Syndrome.
She even scratched her wrist and said that she attempted suicide to a friend on the phone. That friend called her Psych and the police showed up at my house. I was at church and her 10 year old daughter was having a sleepover. Great. I came home to the cops hauling her away and had to explain it to the parents coming to pick up their girls!
It was a shock to her when she realized that when one is committed in Ohio, they are there three days. Realizing she would lose her job with Cleveland Schools, she begged me to get her out.
What a mess that was!
Scientologists will tell you that you need to be audited as well. It's good for business.
The study found mental disorders in forty three percent of the gay/bi/les population. They just didn't look hard enough to find it in the other fifty seven percent.
The IRS thought that, too :-(.
By those criteria, 43% of ANY group probably qualify as disordered.
The study found that 31% of respondents also attempted suicide.
That statistic is more relevant, I think. The now archaic definition of "Gay" definitely doesn't apply to those folks.
Actually while the cause was not identified in this brief article, the article does say it is NOT because of discrimination.
"Hate to rain on the parade, but by this criteria, I doubt we'd do as well."
We? You got a mouse in your pocket?
The question is whether these things rise to the level of a disorder or not. If you have trouble sleeping the night before an interview, you're stressed and nervous, not disordered. If you have trouble sleeping, say, four nights a week every week or your life, that's a problem.
By the way, "criteria" is a plural. The singular is "criterion."
Yes! I'm surprised its so dang LOW!....
That's strange, you mean its not 100%?
>>This "study" doesn't show that homosexuals are disturbed ... it shows that "psychology" has revealed that *everyone* is "disturbed."<<
As my ex-boss used to say, "If one looks in the DSM, anyone can find themselves." It's the truth.
Nope. I would bet that the same percentage of heteros experience the same
Isn't that an ugly French car? (of course ALL French cars are ugly).....
Yep. Ironic, isn't it? Hijack the term "Gay" to make up for being "SSAD."
Have to wonder about a "religion" that charges parishners, has trademarked texts and trade secrets, and calls analysis "auditing".
Including the suicide attempts?
Liberal - an abhorrent disgusting behavioral choice.
