The nuts ARE running the asylum in Chicagoland...
Today's 11/27 cartoon in the PAPER carried a note: "TOday's Get Fuzzy strip does not meet our standards for taste, so please enjoy this substitute strip from 2002."
So, they showed some strip. Curiosity got me wondering WHAT was so terrible that they had to pull it...
So, to www.comics.com I went.
HERE is the strip they refused to post.
Clearly, a cartoon cat with his "thumbs up" review for the pretty puppy is too much for the Trib...but, they printed the Doonesbury "Watch it Brown Sugar" comment cartoon with President Bush and Condi...AND, they printed the "cartoon" from The Boondocks today where the two kids are speaking.."Coling Powell will be sorely missed, Who else could tell lies to the whole world with such dignity and integrity?"
The media are NUTS...they must be eliminated.
No, the MSM are not nuts. They are deceitful socialist vermin who (of course) must be eliminated.
You can hardly tell where those thumbs are going. ;-)
Yesterday's Boondocks shows what a nutcase that cartoonist is becoming. He actually thinks we won the election because the Republicans "control the voting machines." Unreal. On well.
GLOAT GLOAT GLOAT :)
Yes, and boondocks has great content as well.
"The Media" don't have to be "eliminated," just replaced.

Then, this one seems a little over the top too, with people being beheaded in Iraq... Oh, ChiTrib...where is your head AT???? Oh, I think I know... DUH!
BTW stopped reading the trib a long time ago because of boodocks, found it a racist and offensive cartoon, suitable for only members of the daley mob.
The 'little' guy has his thumb up the others butt - that is offensive and would have generated a gazillion complaints. Plus it isn't even funny IMO.
Now maybe little kids might not have 'got it', but I'm sure teens and adults would have.
Junk like this cartoon is why I've sold all my Tribune Stock.
Sounds like a good case of hypocrisy on the part of the Chicago Tribune.
LOL...the only things in the Trib worth reading are the sports pages, they can't LIE about who won the game...and three cartoons. I take about 8 minutes to "read" that birdcage wrap and then I still have to wash my eyes out...
It's just too funny for words actually.
G
Does anyone actually read or buy a particular newspaper just for the comics (cartoons) in it? Crossword Puzzles I could understand but a comic strip?!?
(I must be getting really old)
In this morning's Trib,
they review an e-service
that makes greeting cards,
and the Trib writer
doesn't know the difference
between thumbnail pics
and full image files
that give high resolution.
Not a good paper.
If Ihad to wager a guess, I suppose they dont like this cartoon because it basically says "Roger Ebert is stealing money for what he does". He's a Tribune guy, isnt he?
I am simply offended because all these cartoons are not funny. Is it too much to ask for the "funny page" to be, oh I don't know, FUNNY?
That cartoon is why the internet was created! I think it's funny, having followed the characters, but I believe the paper is within its rights to not run it if they feel it's in bad taste.
What can I say? I like South Park, too.
Idiots-in-Charge generally earn the title honestly and work diligently at maintaining the required qualifications, no matter what the Idiots in Charge are in charge of.
The Tampa Tribune put in an alternate strip for "Get Fuzzy" today too....
I don't think the Chicago Tribune was alone in this one.
That cat Bucky is such a Nazi, he could be a role model for the staff at either paper. Continuous obscene gestures lurk just below the surface all the time.
Actually, Bucky's a Republican. Or at least he was pro-Bush. Satchel was for Kerry. But neither of them really knew why.
It was pretty funny when they both started beating up Rob when he said he was thinking about voting for Nader.
There aren't very many cities left where the residents have a choice at all. If there's only one paper in town...
Thankfully, practically all syndicated strips are available for free online.
I'm big fan of Get Fuzzy and I was a bit shocked to open my paper this morning to see Bucky sticking his thumb up Satchel's arse. Satch is coming out of the closet in a big way this week, first a gay marriage to Marmaduke and now this! What's next, are we going to find out that Satchel Dog was given a no show job in Jersey during the McGreevey administration?
I took it to be a goose.
The San Antonio paper ran a cartoon about Dog Karaoke instead.
Nope. Ebert works for the Chicago Sun-Times. Michael Wilmington is the Trib's movie guy.
In general, Get Fuzzy is the best comic in the paper, but I gotta agree with the editors that the cornhole thing may have crossed the line.
The issue is not whether HE thinks that Bush stole the election, the issue is that HE thinks he can persuade the MASSES into believing that Bush stole the election.
There are times when a cartoonist will run a gag because he thinks it will make other people laugh even if he doesn't find it funny himself. He's just pushing propaganda on the funny pages, he knows that it is antiBush and can continue some minorities'/liberals' ill feelings towards Republicans.
Someone who would vote for Nader would never vote for Bush. Someone who would try to persuade someone/thing from wasting a vote on Nader to vote for Bush or Kerry is only pulling a Kerry voter back into the race.
In 2004, George W. Bush beat all "anybody but Bush" candidates combined in the national vote. On a state by state basis, this might have been closer (of course Kerry managed to keep Nader off of the ballot in a number of states). So much for caring about "disenfranchised" voters. If you ain't voting Rat, screw you...
Anyone interested in a comics PING list?
but bear in mind that Comics.com syndicates and pays rascals like Rall just like MSM does (with royalties). Vote wisely with your wallets....
but if you're buying it, they're getting YOUR subscription monies--and using you to keep their ad rates higher. CANCEL it and get your sports fix online until the MSM Ratherhadeen heads all roll...and don't go to ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS or CNN onlinke--when you do you increment their hit counters...instead Google the specific keywords of interest--and click on the CACHED version!
if you do a search for "Today's Toons" here on FR, there is a Freeper who catalogs and posts the best, almost daily. Great threads!
