I like the sentiment, but let's be clear what the facts are.
NOTHING has happened to Rather. He is allowed to retire on his own schedule and will still be working on 60 Minutes. The MSM has won this round. Period. There is no other way to describe it. Yes, people are more aware and evaluate what the MSM dishes out critically. That is not the same as a win for us. Don't want to rain on anyone's parade - nothing has happened. Nothing else is going to happen when the "investigation" results are released. Rather gets a pass because he has helped in so many other RAT disinformation schemes.

Seems to me that every time the lightbulb comes on over somebody's head and he muses, "Hmmmm, those guys are a pack of barking moonbats from Planet Commie Nutbar," that's a win for us.
Remember how hard it used to be to find people who believed in media bias, even as late as the early eighties? I used to get the narrow-eyed stare even from other Naval officers back then, and they'd say, "No, no, it's just sensationalism. They just want to sell newspapers/magazines/get viewers."
Now, it looks like the number of people who understand what a loathsome scrum of lying sleazebuckets the MSM filth really are is approaching 50% of the population. From my POV, that's a *big* gain.
I might agree with you; however, as I see it, Rather lost because he did everything in his power, to include lying, to "get" Bush. . .and he was caught.
No doubt about it, he was going to retire anyway but now instead of retiring smiling and full of himself he is retiring in shame.
He knows he was wrong.
He knows his reputation is tarnished.
He retired because of his failure, not because of his triumph.

Today, who knows who Walter Duranty is? Do you? He was an NYT reporter who wrote false articles praising Stalin's USSR. Our whole nation was contaminated by this guy's reporting for 40 years (until Solzehnitsyn was published). While it is true that now half the people are onto the scam, we need more than that to really do what needs to be done. We need a level of understanding and agreement in this country which exceeds that of WW2 - in order to defeat the isalamofascists. It is going to be long and hard, and we are no where near done. When Iran has regime change, then we will be well along. Not until.
