The M1 is still the most survivable vehicle we have. Even with more tandem warhead anti-tank weapons and the giant buried mines that the Abrams faces. It is much safer for the M1 today than it was for the German Panthers and Tiger tanks in 1943.
No ship is unsinkable but the Abrams provides great armor, armaments, and thermals for its crew.
