I used to call on Hamms in St. Paul. The boiler room guy, Art Lugar, was adept at stringing together more curse words than anyone I'd ever come across.

Dead at a young 90. That's what a life of NON-beer-drinking will do to you.

I wish people (including Alanis Morrisette) would look up the word "irony" in the dictionary before using the term in their works.

Hamms disappeared before I began to consume mass quantities. Was it decent?

I ain't laughing about Hamm's. Sometimes, I just get the urge to pick up a six-pack of Schlitz. Or Stroh's. Or Iron City. Or Old German. Hey, that's Americana, right there, buddy.

It was decent for the crap variety. I.E. when being the cheapest beer possible in college, it was a top choice.

Consider yourself lucky. There is nothing more foul than Hamms Beer. Well, maybe Susan Estrich. But that's about it.

Wow...a trip down memory lane! When I was little I loved those jingles and the Hamm's beer signs, which were "high tech" for their time. Can you imagine the fit libs would have today between the "Native American" flavor of the Hamm's jingle and all the cute little critters in their ads and signs?

I also miss seeing the Marlboro man bringing home the Christmas tree. Those ad restrictions sure have stopped smoking and drinking, haven't they? Thanks for the memories. (And I don't smoke or drink beer...except an occasional Shiner Bock.)
