WASHINGTON - Senior U.S. intelligence officials said Wednesday that they believe that the English-speaking al-Qaida associate who warned of new terrorist attacks against the United States on a recently released videotape is Adam Yahiye Gadahn, a 27-year-old Californian who converted to Islam in 1995.
But an FBI spokesman said the bureau is not ready to conclude that the man, whose face was wrapped in a headdress on the videotape, was Gadahn.
Last May, Attorney General John Ashcroft and FBI Director Robert Mueller announced that Gadahn, who left California for Pakistan in 1998, is a supporter of al-Qaida and has translated documents for the group. He was among seven people they said authorities were seeking.
"We have some confidence, but not certainty, that the voice is that of Gadahn," an intelligence official said Wednesday, referring to the videotape that was dropped off at an ABC News office in Pakistan about two weeks ago.
The man on the tape, who said in accented English that his name was "Azzam the American," warned that new attacks on the United States could be launched "at any moment."
"My fellow countrymen, you are guilty, guilty, guilty, guilty," he said. "You are as guilty as Bush and Cheney. After decades of American tyranny and oppression, now it's your turn to die."
FBI spokesman Ed Cogswell said Wednesday that "wehaven't reached any conclusions about the tape."
After Gadahn's parents were shown the tape by the FBI they were uncertain whether it was their son, whom they have not seen for about six years, Cogswell said.
What?
I figured this out after watching 30 seconds of that video...
Please tell me they are just being overly cautious.
We know. We know. The MSM is finally catching up. What a bunch of sorry-@ss losers.
He needs to join Ararat.
A meaningless family name...appropriate for a man with a meaningless life.
I wonder if Howard Dean was sending him a coded message when he screamed his middle name that time.
"American may be on al-Qaida tape"
Why doesn't this surprise me? There's this scumbag and don't forget Scott Ritter who, by the way, now is writing guest opinions for Al Jazeera.
PEACE, LOVE, DEATH METAL (unusual info about Adam Pearlman Gadahn).
For whatever reason the link doesn't work-try this:

What a creep. He needs a date with a Hellfire missile.
Excuse my ignorance, but, is that a Jewish surname? If so, the irony is killing me.
