Home Gets Trashed Over Political Ideas (Dems reaching out)
San Diego Union-Tribune ^ | 11/4/04 | UT Staff

Posted on 11/04/2004 9:50:13 AM PST by Defiant

Stan Stafford of North Park didn't want to risk any more trouble. So on Saturday, three days before the presidential election, he took down the big Bush/Cheney yard signs that had dominated his North Park front yard.

It didn't matter.

Vandals trashed his house sometime early yesterday morning, splashing red paint on his sidewalks, plants, garage and house.

"Charles Manson did this," he said.

Stafford, a diehard Republican who lives on the busy corner of Texas and Meade streets, has been the target of several attacks. This most recent one did the most damage, he said.

He had hoped to avoid confrontation by removing the signs. "I didn't want to rub salt into anyone's wounds," he said.

I think it's time to take the stickers off our car, too. This happened in our town.

Not backing down here. My intention is to celebrate for a few days and remove the stickers around Thanksgiving. No gloating, but just quietly reminding those on BOTH sides who is in the White House for four more years!

It would seem the healing can't begin until the surgery is finished.

It's a crying shame that they can't follow what their candidate said about healing. Obviously these people only supported Kerry because they hated George. They're gonna keep that crap up until somebody gets shot. Now I'm not threatening, I'm just saying. Somewhere, somebody will get fed up and that will be a crying shame.

That's just what the intimidators want us to do. Why buckle?

Where do you live, if I may ask?

For the first time in our lives, we live in a "red" county. I've never been lucky enough to live in a "red" state. But there are a couple things going on here...

At my husband's work is someone who is VERY unhappy about the election results, and she has the ability to make his life miserable, being the sister of the head honcho. That is one factor. A customer's complaint caused them to tell my husband he could no longer listen to Rush at work. Tolerance and all.

The other is where we live - someone else put up their Kerry stickers after ours went up. I prefer to get along with my neighbors, even if I don't know them personally. We're new here, so that could change. Or not :)

I've seen Reagan stickers on cars, too. Wish I had those!

Those who did this are potential Kommisars. I'm telling you, if it gets to the point that the left believes that they cannot win power back at the ballot box, they will create underground organizations that will attempt to subvert from within, committing acts of violence and destruction. Earth First is a precursor, but the Kerry Wing of the Dim party is not too far away from these people, and would be easily able to socialize with them in their leftist circles.

Good for you. :) I'd love to leave them on forever. I still intend to enjoy every minute of our victory... where I live I don't see it as backing down because this county went for Bush (red), and that's good enough for me. The majority has spoken!

I explained it in #13 :)

I hate to buckle, but we've got a couple other "things" at work.

The First Amendment applies to me too. I can and will leave my "Viva Bush" sticker on my truck bumper. I am a gracious winner, not an apologetic one.

The country is becoming increasingly red or blue. This is occurring because the red states are becoming such a better alternative to live in and the blue states are becoming so much more intolerant and intolerable. Just look at the change in electoral votes from the 2000 census. Every single changed vote went from a blue state to a red one. People are moving in droves to red states. But you can't say that about the blue states. Their only influx of residents are from third world countries.

People are voting with their feet and moving into states that better fit their ideology, tax rate preferences and quality of life. Why do you think that Nevada, Colorado, Georgia and Texas are some of the fastest growing states? And why are those states becoming increasingly red? Because the people leaving those blue states can no longer tolerate being treated like an alien in their own communities - often communities which they were born in.

I see this hundreds of times a year with GOP voters who don't want to waste their vote in the Peoples Republic of California (Arnold or not). They don't want to pay for the largess of liberal idiots and they don't wan't a city or county where criminals have more rights than they do.

Just like people self-segregated themselves by race in the past generation in big cities across america, those of us to the right of Dan Rather have more continually segregating ourselves to states that look and sound more like ourselves.

There is a Bush/Cheney yard sign in my front lawn at this moment. Fortunately, I live in Texas, where if the local Democrat thugs are imprudent enough to commit malicious mischief after sundown, it is perfectly legal to employ deadly force.

Yes, there is a loaded shotgun by the front door.
