Voting in New York City

Posted on 11/02/2004 4:06:23 AM PST by AC86UT89

"Sorry, the voting machine broke. You'll have to use a paper ballot."

"Hmm, well, ok. May I have a pen?"

"No, we only have one pen. You'll have to wait."

- Election Day 2004, New York City, 6:30 AM

(polls opened at 6)

If this happens all over NYC, Bush might win NY. Unfortunate for you, but probably good for Republicans.

The NYT rants about how their are vote problems in Florida and Ohio, but not a peep about the fact that the nation's largest city has been disenfranchised in such a way that you've got to have more than a New York minute to vote. You've basically got to be unemployed.

I just moved to NYC... I had never used those giant lever machines before. Was fun to flip the big switch for Bush though.

That's very possible, but at least the delays and lines will discourage less-than-enthusiastic voters (Kerry supporters).

Can't you bring your own pen? And wouldn't a good Republican always have a pen anyway? (Because the Democrats who don't reocgnize property rights tend to take the pens of others home with them.)

I recommend (after you vote), you go purchase a box of pens and bring them back to the site. Consider it a civic duty.

Lindsey Graham on Fox & Friends said this is not going to be a close race. He said B-60/K-40 but he clarified that he meant that it was not going to be close.
