Chris,
I listened to part of your program last night and again was amazed at not only the total ignorance of mainstream media.
First, you were finally talking about the ABC tape on your program. I knew about that tape by noontime Wednesday. When are you people going to start paying attention to the internet. The bloggers and Drudge have you guys beat on a continual basis. The vast majority of your news is at least a day old by the time you get it on the air.
Second, I was astounded at your ignorance at not knowing what Senator Kerry was quoted as saying regarding how 9/11 affected him. This statement from the Senator was made in the same interview by the NY Times when he stated he wanted to bring terrorism back down to the standard of being a nuisance. Do you guys even read your own newswire?
Lastly, your naiveté when you claim that a possible President Kerry would never deal with the terrorists. You are talking about the same guy who met with the enemy - by his own admission - in 1970 while still wearing the uniform of a United States Naval officer. The same guy in the 1980s who met with the known communist leader of Nicaragua and claimed he was an okay guy? And you do not think he would sit down with terrorists?
Chris, you have a duty and an obligation to present facts to your listeners. You do everyone a severe disservice by not even knowing what the listeners know. How can you talk about it when you do not even know the subject matter?
And did some of you notice that my titles are not YELLING anymore. 8-)
Chris Core will probably vote for Bush. His wife won't.
I appreciate you email to Core but I think you have to remember who is audience is. My guess is that he is on top of the stories of the day before the program starts but most of his listeners are in traffic after being away from the web all day. If there is something good on C-SPAN Radio, I tend to listen to that instead of Core.
Perdogg, I reminded Chris about the NYT interview in question that he didn't remember earlier. His take on "return to nusance" after reading the interview was that Kerry didn't take Kobar towers, the 1st WTC attack or the USS Cole as being nuisances, but I was dropped before I could ask him what then was Kerry citing as "nuisance terrorism."

Chris seems to be a likable guy, but I was annoyed last night listening to the discussion of the ABC/Adam Pearlstein tape. The whole show was about whether or not Chris should play the tapes. A lot of rueful headscratching and debating, and then he played the tape, and then went on asking if he should play the tape. He'd already played it at that point! The whole world had already heard it by this time, and he was wondering aloud about the journalistic ethics of playing it. Sheesh.
I listened to Chris Core during the Clinton years. He defended Bill every time he opened his mouth. Don't listen.
Chris, is quite likeable and yes his wife will vote for Kerry. He did mention on a recent show that his wife was not happy with Kerry's comments about Cheney's daughter and he was surprised I believe.
He gets callers from both sides of issues and certainly did last night!
They are liars.
You nailed it. I am an old Washingtonian. I have been listening to WMAL for 40 years. Your account is right on the mark.
Chris is a Liberaltarian through and through. Don't expect him to be much of anything else.
I call WMAL a few years back to complain about a news item they got totally wrong. When I finished my say the guy on the other end said "yeah, yeah, right!" And then hung up! I also emailed them when Sam Donaldson signed off with a complete bias anti-American remark. Sometimes they piss me off.
Thanks for recapping Core's survivor type radio career. I came to the area in 76. I always liked Trumbull much better than Core. When the Air Florida 737 crashed into the Potomac, Core showed his true colors by completely taking over the program. I never trusted him again.
WMAL has never been the same since Jackson Weaver died.
I like to listen to the radio when I work. Sometimes all I could get a good signal on was WMAL. It seemed too repetitive and NPR sounding to my liking.
Just to note that Savage is on against CC at AM570, which makes for a choice when Chris becomes a little tiresome, which he does more often that not.
I'll have to remember that. If I'm driving in the morning I alternate between 570 for Imus and C-SPAN Radio for the Washington Journal. Thanks.
And Laura Ingraham(sp?) at 0900.
Yes, I remember that. Probably 25 years ago. It was Frank Harden. As I remember he solicited an undercover cop for prostitution. I don't think the H&W program skipped a beat, however.
