IMO, O'Reilly will retain both his job, his ratings and his wife.

I'm not so sure about the wife. That remains to be seen over time. If she's smart she won't file too early however in order avoid additional damage to his earning potential.

$ 4 million

$4 million is not a settlement...it's an admission.

Yes, details, details, details. O'R is always offering criticism of other public figures for keeping relevant details hidden. How about it, O'R? Let's see the details of your sexual harassment case-I might even start watching your program again, if you show that kind of integrity.

He wants it over. She may have admitted she had nothing. You just don't know.

But we do know that you adulterate headlines on Free Republic.

The egomaniac could have gotten great headlines if he could prove he was not guilty. Do you really think he is a classic Southern Gentleman type saving the honor of a Lady? LOL.

"she likely got pocket change..."

The only ones who know how much, if any, money changed hands are the parties to the litigation, their lawyers and possibly a court. She may have gotten nothing at all. My guess is that this was either a Mexican stand-off or Makris was advised by counsel that she courted too much risk by proceeding.

Speaking of Hannity, boy is he doing God's work today - he was fired up and gave the PA Gov hell for trying to disenfranchise the military vote in PA.

I know it's off topic, but Hannity's doing good stuff with his get out the vote tour. He should be applauded by us!

Not surprising. He never denied the allegations, there appeared to be tapes. So the settlement is obviously for him to save face for his wife and for this woman who knows her case might be hurt by Anita Hill syndrome and, perhaps, legal questions over the secret taping. This press release basically tells me I did it, she knew it, we're agreed on an amount and to go our separate ways before this spun out of control. Basically they're saying he didn't know she was offended, she's saying she didn't know he didn't know she wasn't interested. It's all spin, spin, SPIN! Plus it was probably sympathetically timed to give Kerry cover to avoid doing an interview on O'Reilly.

O'Liar, O'Phoney, O'Fraud marches on.

He buys the vibrator.

Good thing he only gave in to a $4,000,000. extortion demand as opposed to a $60,000,000. extortion demand....

No money changes hands

What makes you think that?

I have heard nothing and I no nothing. Just an interesting tidbit. Her hole card was the tapes which they threatened to go public with if he did not pay. FOX/O'Reilly sued them and asked that the tapes be made public immediately!

Now where did that hole card go?

I think a settlement means that there are no tapes. If the amount is 4 million, then that is pocket change to avoid a dirty court battle. If she had tapes, she could have probably gotten a lot more. O'Reilly will claim to have settled to spare his family, and he will be right.

IMHO, O'Reilly wins.

She can be sure of one thing. She won't be working in TV land anytime soon.

Perhaps she can go on tour with Monica Lewinsky.

As for BO'Re, yuck.

"Correction: There is a settlement. That likely means Mackris gets little or nothing.

"

Not so fast, there. I'm sure there was money involved. $4million seems to be the number being bandied about. Not chump change.""

I don't agree that she got little or nothing. It is now out completely in the news and both of them have egg on their faces.

If she had tapes, there is NO WAY she is going to settle for $0000000. No Way in Hell. He may keep his job, with severe tarnish on himself, but in this society, men seem to be able to keep their jobs "to support their family". She will have a difficult time getting a new job, no matter how guilty he or she is.

He wouldn't have "settled" unless he is guilty of something serious and he doesn't want the details to come out in court.
