PHILADELPHIA -- With a press conference outside Gov. Ed Rendell’s Center City office Wednesday afternoon, U.S. Rep. Curt Weldon jumped headfirst into the fiercely partisan fray about whether to extend Pennsylvania’s deadline for accepting overseas military ballots.
"The governor appears to be deliberately suppressing military votes," Weldon, R-7, of Thornbury, said after delivering a letter to Rendell’s Broad Street office which called on the governor to join a federal lawsuit that calls for the deadline extension. "My office has heard from the families of military men and women who say they received their ballot too late to meet the deadline. I can’t imagine the governor is not getting the same information I am getting."
Rendell’s press secretary, Kate Philips, said her boss would "move expeditiously to make sure people have the right to vote" if credible evidence of voter disenfranchisement is found. "We have heard about a lawsuit but have not seen the filing as of yet," she added.
The Associated Press reported Wednesday night that two Pennsylvania servicemen have filed suit seeking a 15-day extension for the return of overseas ballots. One of the claims levied is that Rendell and Secretary of State Pedro A. Cortes failed to "implement and execute the distribution" of overseas ballots according to federal and state rules.

We are so much better prepared to deal with these Dem theives this year. It's also good to get the word out about how filthy they really are. It used to be a a kind of joke going back a long ways that the dems cheated. It's no longer funny.
As long as a vote is actually cast on or before Nov. 2nd and mailed on or before Nov. 2nd, common sense would dictate that the vote be counted. But I guess Democrats don't have much common sense, considering their track record of encouraging illegal aliens, convicted felons, brain-dead MTV viewers and just plain dead people to vote while doing everything they can to toss out military ballots on technicalities. Bush himself should be making this a central campaign issue: Let our brave troops VOTE!
It's a very very sad day when our Servicemen and women overseas have to sue for the right to have their votes counted
