60,000 missing absentee ballots in Florida
Sun-Sentinel ^ | 10/27/04 | Jean-Paul Renaud

The Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office pointed a finger at the U.S. Postal Service on Tuesday for nearly 60,000 missing absentee ballots, but took the blame for having a phone system that was being overwhelmed by calls from frustrated voters.

While the post office denied responsibility for the missing ballots, Broward County commissioners, anxious to void another failed election, offered to send county employees to help with the phones. Dozens of employees could begin assisting the elections office today to answer telephone calls and to process voters at the 14 early voting sites.

"What we are seeing is unprecedented, so if the supervisor of elections needs our help, we will help," County Mayor Ilene Lieberman said. "It's a week to the election, and voting is a basic right in our country."

What a mess, I think the feds need to move in and pass some laws to force the states to clean up their act. Also, the early voting thing has gotten completely out of hand. I guess we can thank Bill Clinton/motor voter law for this mess.

Another voting problem at Broward. All this scrutiny must be really upsetting their normal vote fraud.

Gore has really toasted their cookies.

Up until the 2000 election, only the politically aware knew about the well oiled vote stealing going on in South Florida. Now it's sort of out there.

Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office .....

obviously, since this is a Republican Stronghold, this is just another example of conservatives disenfranchising Kerry voters.

What gets me about publicity on the south Florida county screw-ups is that the Supervisors of Election in Broward and Miami-Dade are Democrats.

Why is it that Democratic counties with Democratic Supervisors are the ones who have problems, and then try to blame the disenfranchisement on a Republican Governor and Sec. of State.

"Local college students attending Florida State University in Tallahassee are frustrated because they have yet to receive absentee ballots and are unable to reach officials in Broward County. They have been calling Leon County's supervisor of elections, where the university is, to ask for help."

I guess these poor babies will have to go to the voting booths on November 2 and do it the old fashioned way. What a terrible inconvenience! Boo-freakin-hoo!

Of course, fudge on Absentee votes. Why? Because they are typically Military (Conservative). You have to know how to read and write to complete and mail an absentee ballot (Conservative). Nuf said.

They would know based on the approx number of AVB request forms received.

Not every one who requested the absentee ballot will vote but you can bet a majority of them will.

The Union workers at the post office get a ballot sent in by someone from the military and promptly dispose of it.

... I think the feds need to move in and pass some laws to force the states to clean up their act.

How about an Executive Order from the POTUS saying that it is a Federal requirement that everyone must show an ID in order to vote in a National Election. To coin and old Clinton phrase: "Stroke of the pen - law of the land. Kinda cool ain't it."
