BUBBA TO THE RESCUE
New York Post ^ | 10/25/04 | DICK MORRIS

Posted on 10/24/2004 11:35:44 PM PDT by kattracks

BILL Clinton has mounted his white charger and rushed to the rescue of his party and John Kerry, appearing in Philadelphia today and perhaps in other cities later in this final week.

The likely catalyst for Clinton's last-minute involvement: Kerry's trouble with the black vote. The recent survey by the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies showed President Bush pulling 18 percent of the African-American vote, up from only 9 percent four years ago. Most of the converts are older religious men, likely concerned about social values issues like gay marriage.

This breech in black support for Democrats could doom Kerry in a race that's now razor-tight. With blacks casting about 12 percent of the national vote, a swing of 9 percent of their vote would create a two point shift in the national polls, perhaps enough to beat Kerry.

It's about time middle-class African-Americans began to desert the Democratic Party. Bush's dependence on Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice demonstrates amply his freedom from racism and his tax cuts show how good he is for upward mobility for all people of all races. If middle-class blacks start voting their class not their race, it would help all blacks by forcing the same kind of bidding war as we've seen for the Hispanic-American vote.

[snip]

But you don't see Hillary on the campaign trail. All over America you hear ads by Guiliani endorsing Republicans from Bush on down, but none by Hillary. This woman, whose head always dominates her heart, knows when to keep quiet and let her party's candidate lose.

If Bubba's coming out, you can bet he'll deploy in states that are a Kerry lock. The same trick Hillary pulled awhile ago in coming to talk at my old stomping ground, CSULB!

I just hope he doesn't die on the campaign trail. The sympathy factor would be big. "Win one for the Groper!" and all that.

I agree with what you said, Bill is being window dressing to say he campaigned.

I think in fact it could easily have been him who told Kerry's handlers to emphasis that Kerry's daughter was a lesbian to sabotage the campaign.

I would place the odds at about 7-1 that it was a Clinton influenced move. Would any such thing happen in a Hillary campaign? NO!

First of all, Bill Clinton is absolutely nuts to come out and campaign for John Kerry at this time in his four artery bypass recovery period. From the release from the hospital it usually takes a full twelve weeks of rehab regime to gain back your strength. He is putting himself in harms way being becoming this active. Take this info from someone who knows (five artery bypass). Second, his actions will do nothing to help John Kerry. If Kerry does not have the total "Black" vote in his camp by now, he never will, Bill Clinton, not withstanding. I guess John Kerry has put the screws to Clinton because the Kerry campaign cannot muster up any enthusiatic crowds for him on his own. Of course, Bill Clinton will outshine him and, the end result will be that Kerry will look worse because of Clinton's presence. His only saving grace will be if the Clinton presence does not muster a hugh crowd. (Hillary Clinton has not drawn large crowds in south Florida & Al Gore has been kept in "Black" churches. The Dems are frightened that no crowd will gather to hear this maniac). Kerry, Clinton or not, is going down next Tuesday!!! Hillary will be running big time in 2008. The Clintonistas have done a fine "cloaked" job of doing Ketchup Boy Kerry in!!! And...that moron Traitor doesn't have a clue!!! John Kerry is an absolutely terrible candidate, the worst Democrat in a long, long time to run for President!!!

"President Bush pulling 18 percent of the African-American vote."

Important If True.

From another thread: WHILE John Kerry passes himself off as a family man these days, the Democratic presidential nominee's inner circle of friends working overtime to get him into the White House are mostly single, fiftysomething, skirt-chasing lotharios with an appetite for twentysomething babes.

I believe this would explain Clinton's decision to campaign...where are the babes?

Actually, I'm kind of looking forward to see what Clinton looks and sounds like tomorrow

There were reports that he wasn't doing very well with recuperating

Tomorrow we'll if it was BS or not

Kerry, Clinton or not, is going down next Tuesday!!!

I would like to believe that; but at this point, I'm unsure what's really going to happen. What about that Washington Post story yesterday about the Bush team being very "grim" about their prospects, about how they're not ahead, 10 days out, in the battleground states. Is the story BS, meant to dampen gop morale, or heaven forbid, is there some truth in it? That would be bad.
