Close election doesn't have to stay that way

WASHINGTON -- The presidential race is too close to project a winner right now, but that doesn't mean it will be too close on Election Day to prevent a landslide.

Winner-take-all Electoral College math could convert a modest burst of momentum from President Bush or Sen. John Kerry into a sweep of tossup states -- and a presidential mandate.

With state and national polls showing the race essentially tied, Bush and Kerry are making strategic decisions based on the assumption that that the popular vote will be evenly divided and every Electoral College vote will count. Thus, in the final weeks of the campaign, they pulled money out of second-tier battlegrounds like Missouri and Oregon to focus on the few states that are most likely to break the stalemate.

That doesn't mean the dozen second-tier battlegrounds can't come into play. "The math adds up a lot of different ways," said Democratic strategist Jim Jordan.

It's easy to understand how the race could add up to another nail-biting recount like 2000. As it stands now, 30 states plus the District of Columbia are firmly for Kerry or Bush.

fournier making his wishes into an article again?

Bush DOES have a 4-6 point lead nationally, despite what crappy polls like ipsos say. So it would be a lot hard for ole horseface to get a landslide in his favor. Bush, OTOH, nees only a few more points to trigger a landslide. And I think that's what will happen - unless the dems can fraud their way into a win.

I don't know what's going to happen on election night but when I read that Bush is up one in Hawaii, I'm just not feeling as nervous as I used to be.

Unfortunately, tradesports.com has Bush at 9% chance of winning Hawaii. I hope they're all wrong, but that's where the money is.

An Iowa judge has issued a ruling that people who improperly completed a registration card can still vote. What error did they make, or was it intentionally not completed?

Are you at least 18 years of age and a US citizen?

In other words, People who are not US citizens or teenagers under 18 who competed a registration form can vote. The democrats will stop at nothing to steal this election. Vote Republican and Save America.

Who cares what the AP says, they are shills for Kerry anyways, and don't have a clue about truth. They are the only ones having Kerry leading.

At which point I realized this was another Kerry puff piece produced by the AP's resident DNC directed stooge and thus was a complete waste of my time.

If there were any more surprises I think we would have heard by now. Besides, what more can they throw at Kerry? His record is clear, and it is one that ought to frighten every American. Still, almost half the American people (if you believe polls) are ready to vote for him anyway. If Kerry were to committ murder on live TV I don't think it would drag him down now.
