On February 26, 1993 Al Qaeda fired the first salvo in the war on terror by bombing the World Trade Center. A powerful explosive device was detonated on the second floor of the parking garage in the world trade center. The explosion created an 8 foot hole through 4 floors of concrete, killed 6 people, and injured another 1040.
A two year investigation ensued which resulted in the indictment of 10 people and the conviction of nine of them. The 10th person's name was Abdul Rahman Yasin, an American born in Indiana and admitted member of the group that did the bombing.
Yasin was picked-up not long after the bombing but was released due to lack of evidence. He fled the country and went to Iraq where he lived until at least 2002. The Iraqi government claimed before the present war that Yasin had been arrested after his arrival in Baghdad, and an interview with Yesin by 60 minutes in May of 2002 seemed to confirm that it was true.
U.S. intelligence did not agree with that assessment and after we invaded Iraq, documents were found that pointed to Yesin being given money and housing by Saddam. The story seemed to end at that point. Yesin had probably escaped from Iraq, and the papers did not conclusively connect Saddam to al Qaeda or the World Trade center bombing.
I am wondering if there may be a new chapter in this story opening up. Pakistani new organizations reported the following today:
Two Qaeda men held in Lahore and PeshawarISLAMABAD: Pakistan has arrested two foreign Al Qaeda activists a Yemeni and an Egyptian who are said to be important figures in the terrorist outfit.
The Yemeni, identified as Saleh Nauman, was arrested in Lahore about 10 days ago while trying to slip out of Pakistan, an intelligence official said. He is an important figure in Al Qaedas new leadership, said the official, who asked not to be named. He had been here in Pakistan and Afghanistan for the last eight years and wanted to sneak out of the country.
The man had arrived in Lahore from Islamabad about 10 days before he was intercepted by intelligence agents in the city, another intelligence official said.
Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said the authorities had arrested another suspect, who he identified as Abdul Rehman, a communications expert for Al Qaeda. He said the man was arrested in Peshawar three days ago. He is a communications expert, but I do not know any other details, he said.
Another security official said the man was on the most wanted list of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). He is an important Al Qaeda operative who had been hiding in Pakistan, the official said. agencies
The name Abdul Rehman is awfully close to Abdul Rahman which is one of aliases that Yesin has gone used. Also Yesin is on the list of the FBI's 25 most wanted terrorists and his name is the only one that closely matches the name of the man arrested in Pakistan.
Please note that this is a personal opinion but I think Rehman and Rahman could be the same person, and if they are his capture will turn out to be extremely important. Justice could finally be meted out to the last 1993 bomber still at large and it's just possible that he could be the missing link connecting Saddam to al Qaeda.

You mean Yasin :~ )
A little weasle weve been after since 73
Born right in indiana.
oops 93
Oops thanks.
That's a big problem. Here's a guy who's name has been spelled Rehman, Rahman, Reyman, Yasi, Yesi.
Ya got 100 ways to spell Mohammad. It's a big problem trying to ID someone from their name.
If this is Yasin, this is beyond huge. This is "The Connection".
Read reports about the Blood Moon and have a great evening.
I'm not arguing with you. I think it's probably the same guy, too. I was just pointing out the problems that everyone shares trying to ID people from their names.
BTW- there is some disparity in the reports of when this guy was supposedly arrested.....from a few days ago, to the first report being almost 3 weeks ago.
Interesting. I do remember a report about someone being captured now that you mention it. I'll have to do some more searching.
Here you go. We discussed this on another thread earlier.
