It is interesting to note that he is really putting emphasis on the queer marriage issue in areas densely populated with blacks, such as Helena. This could be the one issue that would loosen the grip of the RATs on black voters. Most that I have talked to are very against it, and these folks are predominantly Christian people. If Jim can cut a slice of the black democRAT loyalists from the herd over this issue, he could win. He's beat the odds in every race he's entered. He has a solid following in the northern half of the state.

For anyone who has heard Jim talk - and I'm sure at the event listed in this article, Jim talks about a lot of things. The fact is, any good politician will target his message to the audience. But Holt is not a "one-issue" candidate.

I think one point that needs to be driven home on the "gay marriage" issue is that while on many issues it is best to wait for a problem to manifest itself before being so drastic as to pass a constitutional amendment, such a delay here would complicate things as it would require retroactively revoking "marriages" that have already been formed and recognized.

I would posit that the next time such an amendment is intruduced, it might not be a bad idea to include a provision explicitly allowing states to continue to grant some recognition to "marriages" performed before the amendment's ratification without having to either grant full recognition to such marriages or recognize ones performed after its ratification. Although I would expect such marriages would, for a time, pose problems, I would expect that with time the number of such marriages still in existence would decrease sufficiently to become a relative non-issue.

Glad to hear Holt do that. The RNC has for the most part written the AR Senate race off when Mike Huckabee and Asa Hutchinson expressed no interest in challenging Blanche Lincoln. However Holt's campaign need not be in vain. In order to win more minorities in the GOP, conservatives must engage minority individuals in friendly dialog. As an Asian immigrant who went through the government school system, I was told that the Democrats look out for the well being of People of Color. Thus in my youth, I leaned toward the Democrats. However, it was the RATS intolerance for opposing views on abortion is what drove me to the Republicans.

Sounds like our semi-Republican answer to Ed Case (who took over for Patsy Mink when she was EWD [elected while dead]) in Hawaii. Some really strange guy otherwise but who is really passionate on the gay marriage issue.

Lincoln has repeatedly maintained that she believes marriage should be between one man and one woman. Lincoln spokesman Drew Goesl said that the senator believes the legal definition of marriage should be left up to each state as it historically has been.

Sounds good...until you realize that states which don't agree with gay marriage will be forced to recognize such 'marriages' performed in states which allow it.

"Every person in America has come together on this issue of same-sex marriage," the freshman state senator from Springdale declared

What on earth is he talking about?
