The anti-Kerry group has a new advertisement that will start airing this weekend.

MONROE, N.C. -- The Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a group that has consistently questioned the integrity of presidential candidate John Kerry, stopped in Monroe on Wednesday night.

Group members like Steven Gardner addressed a small crowd at the National Guard Armory.

Gardner served with the Democratic senator in Vietnam and continues to be outspoken about his former captain.

Steven Gardner served with the Democratic senator in Vietnam and continues to be outspoken about his former captain. “We’re addressing the character of John Kerry, and nothing else,” Gardner said. “Everybody has tried to bash us and tried to make us into the political side of it, and it’s not that. It is strictly about John Kerry’s integrity.”

Former prisoner-of-war Scotty Morgan holds a personal grudge against Kerry. Morgan said he was victimized by what the senator said in congressional hearings.

“He said everybody that was over there was a war criminal, committed war crimes,” Morgan said. “I had to live with that crap for seven years and 10 months with the Vietnamese telling me that. I was tortured to make me admit that I was a war criminal.”

Former prisoner-of-war Scotty Morgan said he was victimized by what a young John Kerry said in congressional hearings after Vietnam. Despite meetings like the one in Monroe, the country has not heard much from the Swift Boat Veterans, who created a whirlwind of controversy in August when their commercials began to air. But Gardner said that is about to change.

“We’ve kind of let things lay easy right now because we knew what was coming up,” Gardner said. “We’ve got one more big ad that is coming up this weekend, and it’s basically going to address everything about John Kerry.”

The new ad will refer to 32 questions that the Swift Boat Veterans want Kerry to answer about his military service.

Once again, pi$$-poor reporting. I'm sure the dweeb who wrote this report was using this term as in "captain of the boat", but Kerry got nowhere near the rank of Captain in the Navy. I guess it's going to be up to us to report straight facts--us, as in pajama-clad keyboard junkies.....as if I didn't already know that.

I hope they ask Kerry why he lied about "No Man Left Behind" at his convention, when Kerry was the only one that fled.

I hope they ask him why there doesn't exist the mandatory report to document and thus prove that there was hostile fire for his 1st Purple Heart.

Thanks for the report! Is there a link to the news video? (I'd like to see if I'm in it ... can't miss my orange jacket!)

I was so impressed with the speakers last night! Both messages were absolutely devastating to John Kerry. (Scotty Morgan referred to Kerry as a "mop-headed, mule-faced, insignificant little pissant," which I thought was some nice, vivid, appropriate verbiage.)

As I said on the NC board, I was awed to be in the room with those men, both the speakers and the audience. The man in the wheelchair who was seated at the front right told me that he served two tours in Vietnam, and his daughter is currently in her second tour in Iraq. What can you say to that, except "God bless you for serving!"?

This presentation will have an impact far beyond the people who attended. Last night and this morning, Bill and I told my husband some of the things we heard, and he will be talking to coworkers who are Kerry supporters. Not everyone who currently intends to vote for Kerry is a raging ideologue ... some of them are just ignorant, and it's up to us to fix that!

Thanks, UCYR, for your efforts in putting on the program!

Thanks for the link. God bless the Swift Boat Vets. They served their country once. They called themselves to serve again.

I have a question for anyone. How are they able to run another ad at this time? I thought the new laws stopped ads 30 days before the election. I even called Greg Garrison (a lawyer and radio host) to ask him if the Swifties would have to stop. He thought they would.

Don't get me wrong. I believe in political free speech. I just don't understand the new laws.

I don't understand the new laws, either! I think that was partly the point ... to make the law so confusing that people would be scared into inaction because they couldn't be sure they weren't doing something illegal.

The SwiftVets are a "527 Organization," whatever that is, like Soros' groups, and the current view seems to be that these groups are exempt from the advertising ban. I don't get it, but the Dems have given MoveOn and so forth a pass on the laws, so now they're stuck with it!

Scotty Morgan, the ex-POW who spoke last night, said that he'd told John McCain personally that the "campaign finance reform" was pure, Unconstitutional denial of free speech, and that he was ashamed of McCain for supporting it! FWIW ...
