Saddam misused oil-food program

By Bill Gertz
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
Published October 5, 2004

Congressional investigators have uncovered new information showing how Saddam Hussein's government systematically purchased military-related goods for the seven years of the U.N. oil-for-food program.
According to officials involved in ongoing probes, motorcycles bought by Saddam under the United Nations' food program were used by the Fedayeen to attack U.S. forces in Iraq.
"Trucks, pickups, motorcycles and other equipment purchased by Iraqi ministries were pooled and then sent to the Defense Ministry," one official said. "They ordered motorcycles that were used by Fedayeen against us."
The black-hooded guerrillas under Saddam waged commando-type attacks on advancing U.S. troops in spring 2003.
Investigators from the staff of the House International Relations Committee disclosed details of their probe, one of several being carried out by Congress, including new details on Saddam's bribes to U.N. officials and officials of foreign governments.
A second investigation, led by Rep. Christopher Shays, Connecticut Republican and chairman of the Government Reform subcommittee on national security, emerging threats and international relations, has found that Saddam ran the Iraqi side of the food program as a "cash cow" that let him buy weapons with some of the $10 billion he siphoned off, according to a report by the investigators.

I am not a troll. Check this out:

http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2001/6/24/80648.shtml

Its from Newsmax, which is NOT a liberal site.

Basically it says that Cheney and Halliburton profited from the oil for food program and wanted the sanctions lifted. The article is from June 2001

From that article:

"... Halliburton held stakes in two companies that signed contracts to sell more than $73 million in oil production equipment and spare parts to Iraq"

What does it mean to "hold stakes"? Hm. That's one degree of separation too many for me. Also, I don't understand why you say "Cheney ... profited from the oil for food program." Where's that evidence?

If you own stocks in Pepsi, then you hold stake in Pepsi. If Pepsi profits, so do you. Cheney was in charge of Halliburton. If Halliburton profited, so did he.

U.N oil-for-food program is directly responsible for the deaths of American soldiers.
And I personally believe that some of this money helped finance the terrorists to do 9-11.

The Korean war, Vietnam, the United Nations are responsible for the deaths of some Americans.

Why we give money and trade with communist and socialist countries is beyond me.

Read Olly North's new book which says Russia, China, France, Germany were selling weapons to Iraq even after President Bush gave orders to go into Iraq a little over a year ago.

I think they have put United Nation personell in command structure of our military, judges, and departments of U.S. governments that make sure we go by international laws.
