According to figures released by the U.S. Census Bureau, Bedford County has the highest percentage of Latino residents than anywhere else in Tennessee. Hispanics make up 10 percent of the countys population, while African-Americans total 8.2 percent, according to the figures released this week.
White residents make up 89.9 percent of Bedford Countys population. Since Hispanic is not considered a racial category and some people identify themselves as both Latino and another race, the figures do not total 100 percent. Bedford County also ranked fifth in counties experiencing population growth in Tennessee, with 40,253 people living in the county in 2003, as opposed to 37,586 in 2000 an increase of 7.1 percent. In fact, Latinos are now the largest minority in 24 Tennessee counties, mainly in rural areas.
Nationwide, Hispanics now make up more than 13 percent of Americas population, while Blacks have become the second largest minority at 12 percent. According to the Census Bureau, whites make up 75 percent of the population across the country. Overall, Tennessee is 2 percent Hispanic, 17 percent black and 81 percent white.
Heads up.
FYI
I imagine it could be much more --- many of the illegals aren't counted --- even here where they can come up with over 80% in the census there are cries of outrage by hispanic groups who claim discrimination for their numbers being under-counted and demand extra federal money be given to make up for those missed in the census.
Welcome to the hispano-ization of America, In 50 years anyone want to guess what the major language in the U.S. will be?
Don't worry, the government will figure out a way to tax you more to pay for all this lunacy. Bet on it.
