*sigh* Your Dad is also going to be a problem with the cost. You have to remember that all our pets were strays or "jailhouse" rescues. :-)

I have seen them on the 'net for $800 to $1000 but those breeders aren't near us.

Here's a link to the official AKC parent club for the Cavalier. There's a nationwide breeders' list on the menu to the left.

http://www.ackcsc.org/

One tip, and xsmommy can confirm this. Try to purchase a pup from a breeder who screens his or her breeding stock for inherited defects/disease. In addition, don't be surprised if the breeder interviews you. You are, after all, buying a pup in which the breeder should have much emotional investment.

Good luck, Cavaliers are delightful dogs. They are the most popular Toy breed in Great Britain for good reason.

i live in No.VA and the breeder is in PA north of Philadelphia, she met us at a dog show in York, PA so that we could meet Loosh. My 3 kids each ponied up every dime they had to put toward the cost of the dog, as a show of good faith to xshub that they were really set on having him.

i totally agree. She did interview me, we were on the phone for a long time just chatting and i believe that she does attempt to breed out the heart defects.

You might want to consider rescue. Sometimes dogs end up homeless, due to an owner's death for example. They are not as expensive as a puppy. Look for a link to the club rescue group in the link I posted above.

Be careful when you find pups that are less expensive, especially on the 'Net. You could be buying a dog which could cost you way more than its purchase price over its life, if it has heart disease, or needs expensive surgery to correct deformed knee caps.

here is the breeder. don't go to the website if you don't want one, because the pix of the pups on that page make you want to own about a dozen of them! if we didn't own xshub as hub and father, we would own at least one more cavalier!

AWWWWW!!! That tricolor pup on the home page is just the most adorable little critter!

Of course, I am partial to this look::

Ok, his ears are up, but he's a dwarf spaniel too!

Thanks for the links, Darnright and Xsmom.
Mom, you're on your own with dad, but he was grumbling the other day about not having Tiny Dawg to wander around the roads with and watch NiMH cat make her trip over him.

I've been looking at breeder websites after seeing a couple in Westfall Pa with a Cavalier. They're adorable. I'd actually prefer an adult to a puppy as I've never raised a pup.
In the meantime, this is a pic of my now gone but never forgotten Andra dawg and Michael Piewackett the cat.

Hallalujah!!! I found out who this dog belongs too. Choctawsquaw!! She lives about 4 miles from here and the dog has been gone from her house for 3-4 weeks. I thought he looked familiar, but I couldn't place him.

To post a picture you have to first put them on a host sight. York.com is a sight you can host them for free. Go to that, and follow the directions to loading your pictures there.

Once they are loaded you click on the thumbnail size to get a bigger picture, then right click. a window will come up, go to "properties" click on that. Another window will come up. You will see the URL address. copy that.

Then go to a posting page on FR, and the html is:
img src="URL Address"
with the triangle thingys at each end. Be sure to use quotation marks around the URL address.

Clear as mud:)

The link is [img src=http://www.image.com/image.jpg] but you have to replace the [ ] brackest with < > brackets and have your image internet addy after the "Img src=" section.

Hey Pups,

We've been asked to ping our lists for the following FR post.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1232542/posts

It's a good article to peruse if the debate last night left you a tad disappointed.

I've been gone most of the day and came home to all the wonderful photos you've posted. I want every dog I see. Y'all watch out if you hear someone "lurking" around your yard one dark night. It's me out pooch poaching. I'll be back in a little while. GO BUSH - sKerry LIES! LakeLady
