Blame It on Neo: Don't call me a "neocon" unless you are a friend.
Last week Pat Buchanan appeared on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show," and liberal host Jon Stewart bonded with his paleoconservative guest over their mutual opposition to the liberation of Iraq. Mr. Stewart smiled and nodded while Mr. Buchanan derided "neoconservatives" four times in the course of the six-minute interview. In his efforts to promote his and his guest's common agenda, Mr. Stewart didn't ask Mr. Buchanan what he meant by "neoconservatives." It was clear that the Jewish Mr. Stewart didn't realize that Mr. Buchanan was using what has become an epithet for "Jews"--an epithet employed most often by the left.

FYI.
Neo is code for The One. Ask the Matrix.
I found this to be interesting - "Ms. Gorin, a contributing editor of JewishWorldReview.com, performs with RightStuffComedy.com."
I agree with you 100%. I rarely even read a post past that word.
I think it's becoming clear that many people use the phrase "neo-con" incorrectly due to the fact that they don't know what it means.
As Mark Steyn put it (although I think he was quoting someone else), "neo-con" comes from two abbreviations, "con," meaning "conservative," and "neo," meaning "Jewish."
The term conservative has taken a complete turn from what it meant just 4 years ago. If you are against the war in Iraq that shows me 100 percent how you think our national security should be ran, expecially in these times where national security is the #1 issue.
To me, if you are against the war in Iraq, don't even try to tell me you are a conservative, because you are staining the name conservative in my point of view. If you are against the war in Iraq, you are by no means a conservative in todays politics.
The thing that amazes me however, is that every time a Kerry representitive is on TV they say something like "We are here to talk about the REAL issues in America, like the economy, education, and health care." It is then, when I find myself talking to the TV and saying "Hey Mr. Campaign adviser, did you forget we were attacked on September 11, 2001?" It amazes me how almost everytime they leave the word "terrorism" OUT of "today's issues in America".
What if I think we're not fighting the war properly?
Jeez. Has it EVER been used in that context? Am I that thick?
Ms. Gorin seeks to educate those who are usually hyper-sensitive to the politically correct that they are brainlessly nodding their heads to a slur. That is a good point. At the same time, I am afraid that Ms. Gorin may be, understandably perhaps, hyper-sensitive to slurs. Could it be that there is a discernible neocon way of thinking that all should be free to criticize as they see fit? This way of thinking is misunderstood by Mr. Buchanan as altogether Israel-centric.
End The Matrix
Stewart is Jewish, and he's well aware of what Pat Buchanan stands for. But since Buchanan and Stewart think the same way about Bush, they can yuck it up like old friends.
"If you are against the war in Iraq that shows me 100 percent how you think our national security should be ran, expecially in these times where national security is the #1 issue. "
So people who think that going after a secular dictator in the middle east was less important that places like DPRK (who presumably has some deliverable nukes by now), Iran (ditto) who actually proactively supports terrorists, etc., aren't for national security?
Iraq was the only of the -axis of evil- countries we COULD take out with anything resembling internation support or at least apathy, and the only one we could hit without a real chance of a nuke being used, or a very nasty war being fought (regardless of what cbs thinks, being able to invade and occupy a moderately hostile country with an active guerilla-tactic insurgency for a year and a half with 1000 kia's is a miracle).
I don't know why you have such a problem with it. The term "neoconservatives" is often used by the people themselves who fit this description.
