A Letter To The Left
September 20, 2004 | Bush4304

Posted on 09/19/2004 11:36:01 PM PDT by Bush4304

In my last post, where I showed everybody the evils of some Liberals on liberalforum.org, I pointed out how I was banned just because of my username "Bush4304". One freerep told me to try Democraticunderground.com, so I did.

Not much to my surprise when I entered this website I read the rules where it claimed to be a "big tent website" offering all views to be represented. I then registered, once again, as Bush4304, and was automatically blocked. So I read the rules one by one and saw this:

"We ban conservative disruptors who are opposed to the broad goals of this website. If you think overall that George W. Bush is doing a swell job, or if you wish to see Republicans win, or if you are generally supportive of conservative ideals, please do not register to post, as you will likely be banned"

So I guess their a "big tent website", unless you disagree with them. It's just so amazing how these people ran their latest moveon.org add accusing us Republicans of regarding dessent as wrong, when they themselves are so opposed to dessent that they can't even read the words of someone who might disagree with them.

I then explored the website a little bit and found a article about the "Top 10 Idiot Conservatives". Part of it was dedicated to Phil Parcel, making fun of him because John Kerry supporters screamed insults at him and his little girl, while pushing them around. They had also posted a picture of Phil with his poor little girl crying on his shoulders while people were yelling at them for supporting Bush. They seemed to think this was funny. I didn't hesitate to write them a letter, so here is what I wrote for those who are interested:

"So you say your website is to offer all points of view? But then you limit that to progressives saying that conservatives may not post? What happened to the spirit of debate?

See, I am a known member of freerepublic.com, which is by large conservative, but liberals can post. Because we realize that everybody is alloud to have their point of view heard. It kills me though, when I realize that is not the attitude shared by you leftists. We're not alloud to post just because we are voting for Bush?

This reminds me of a add that moveon.org ran, where it showed a lady who apparantley lost a few clients because she "supports" Kerry. The add accused us conservatives of banning dissent. It seems to me that you guys are the only ones who ban dissent, where as this is the second democratic message board I have been instantley kicked off of just because of my user name "Bush4304".

You want to know why John Kerry will not win this election? Because the American people have come to recentley know the leaders of the Democratic party as masters of cry-baby politics. You guys (in your point of view) HAVE EVERY RIGHT to question the record of President Bush during his national guard years, but when people question Kerry's service record all we hear is a resounding "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!" from the left.

By the way, I was searching around your website and I found that article about the 10 Conservative Idiots and I read the part about Phil Parlock. I read about how his little girl was being pushed around, and about how these people were shouting insults at him and his little girl. I also saw the picture of the little girl crying, and it seems to me through some sick and perverted point of view, you thought these attacks on him were reasonable? This is now the unfortunate face in the Democratic party, and thats why you guys won't have any power in American politics untill it is changed. The Clinton years of pardoning terrorists and doing nothing while innocent Americans are being killed in suicide bombings and other attacks from terrorists are gone, their is no looking back."

I thought this would be expecially interesting to those who read my last post "The Sad Truth About Liberals". Thank you for your time.

It's because of their hate speech and their use of foul language which to them is their normal speech.

True, most are disrupters. I don't know what the policy is towards "honest" liberals who want to sensibly debate the issues, probably because there are so few. Simply showing up on day one and starting "hit" threads is not the way to go about it though.

you went to a liberal site to attack liberals, not on any issue, but just genrally as 'bad people'. i cant understand why they didnt listen to you and change immediately! (sarcasm)

freep is very similar to those other sites, only in the same way black is similar to white. neither site accepts trolling from the opposition and bannings are common in both (actually ive never really gone to DU except those links about that purnell guy so im assuming here) ends of the spectrum.

i would suggest a better tactic would be to actually debate some points in which you feel confident. purely judgemental stuff like 'homosexuality is bad' is hard to argue with people who may not have the same religious basis, but you could argue war issues. going somewhere to generally point out that 'you guys are bad!' isnt really going to be very effective.

myself, i try to ignore all the liberal hate here because i dont understand it. i have anti-war freinds and i respect their views. clearly they were outnumbered and pro-war people (such as myself) got our way. but the arguments arent clear cut. in the end we have to look at the potential cost in innocent lives (im sad so many of saddams conscripts had to die a hot sharp terrible death in the desert) and make a decision. i made mine, they made theirs, we live in a democracy and the decision (which sometimes we agree with and sometimes we dont) is made and we abide by it. i would never want to go to war without someone arguing the anti-war case strongly. it is a topugh decision.

surely everyone here doesnt hate all liberals like this? i can be freinds with people i disagree with. sometimes that disagreement can actually become a very interesting part of the freindship, like a spark. i know theres intolerance on both sides, but surely we can debate the issues without having to resort to generalisations and pettiness?

oh well, maybe its back to ignoring the partisan insults and back to my crazy ideas about the war on terror.

It appears that you don't have to attack them to be banned! I know of no such policy here. Should I go read the rules? Because I agree that it is healthy and even in our best interest that we debate topics before we form an opinion.

My point exactley. Somebody told me on here that liberals do get band, but I don't know any specifics on why that has happened. I do know that plenty of liberals have replied to the editorials I have written on here though.

I went to that website with good intention. I did not go on their to attack them as "bad people". I had some issues I wanted to debate, and I got blocked instantley. I got blocked as soon as I signed up.

Literally, as soon as I clicked on the button to post, I was informed that I was blocked from posting before I even got to type one letter.

After reading the rules of the message board and seeing that they had claimed to be a "big tent" website, I decided to call them on their hypocricy.
