War-games find Iran strike unfavorable
Washington Times ^ | 9/19/04 | Washington Times

Washington, DC, Sep. 19 (UPI) -- CIA and Defense Intelligence Agency war-games have predicted unfavorable consequences of a U.S. pre-emptive strike on Iran's nuclear facilities.

Newsweek quoted an Air Force source as saying, "The war-games were unsuccessful at preventing the conflict from escalating."

Newsweek National Security Correspondent John Barry and Special Correspondent Dan Ephron have said administration officials were instead hoping to cause a regime change in Tehran-by covert means. However, the officials weren't ruling out the possibility of using force if necessary.

Sources quoted by Newsweek said circulated memos echo the administration's unsuccessful Iraq strategy: oust the existing regime and quickly install a pro-U.S. government. The plan has found disfavor with some U.S. military leaders, and there's no evidence it has any backers at the cabinet level.

I hope this is intentional misinformation, because telegraphing the results of war games and our future plans to the enemy is grossly irresponsible.

If the US delays long enough Israel will do it - and then the US will be forced to deal with the "fall-out"

"the" conflict?
What conflict?

Besides, long before Iran needs to worry about what
Bush might do, they need to worry about what Israel
or Russia might do, and whether or not the Coalition's
air defenses might decide to, umm, stand down for
maintenance that day.

I agree with you. Would be silly to broadcast war plans.

Its the Washington Ha><0r. What else do you expect. These are the guys who released information why we were in combat operations that we "didnt war game for this kind of combat."

To put it simply, they dont give a frack about American soliders lives, military operations or success. They care about furthering a socialistic agenda and destroying the Bush administration first and foremost.

When the WP starts reporting things fairly and ACCURATELY then I will change my mind.

Yes, they jumped on the memogate thing - AFTER THE HORSE LEFT THE BARN. In fact, they were running smear pieces with the forged docs until we proved they were forged.

Here's a hint - use 5 or 6 100 kiloton bombs instead of conventional.

If enough of them are dead, escalation won't be an issue.

  1. Authorized disinformation
  2. Unauthorized information from Clinton leftovers or other traitors

WHOA, I retract it. I just noticed, Washington TIMES.

It is still not good to be releasing information about war games. That information is vital to our security.

My bad.

Boy isn't it amazing how Top Secret CIA and DIA documents keep showing up in Newsweek and the New York Times? I wonder if they use the same document experts as CBS News?
