CBS AFFILIATES UPSET (@Rather)
NRO/The Kerry Spot ^ | 9/14/04 | jim geraghty reporting

[09/14 08:25 PM EDT]

I am informed that the head of a CBS affiliate in a large East Coast city is telling viewers who call in that he wants Rather to apologize on 60 Minutes and then resign. This local network official reportedly plans to present the flood of critical emails he has been getting to the network heads in New York.

I suspect this gentleman is not alone.

It's your picture, but I would have added a caption: "This man brought down Dan Rather."

Your screen name is very apt....let me get to work.

You may have something there. FWIW, this town worships Gibbs (for good reason). I mean he's royalty, so I had expected to see him capture the "fan vote" and clobber both Bush and Kerry. Rather amusing that he didn't.

From this web page:

Extensive research (i.e., Web-surfing) has revealed that comic Joey Faye claimed authorship of "Slowly I Turned" in its many formats. Born Joseph Palladino in 1909 on Manhattan's Lower East Side, he appeared in burlesque and vaudeville shows, usually as a sidekick to the star, often Phil Silvers. He was in 36 Broadway shows, including Man of La Mancha as Sancho Panza, and dozens of movies. He had his own series, The Joey Faye Frolics, in 1950, and appeared as well in other television shows, such as The Real McCoys, Perry Mason and Maude. His most recent claim to fame was as the green grape in the Fruit of the Loom underwear commercials. He continued to work until well into his 80s and died in 1997.

Now could Dan Rather have gotten such a correct answer this rapidly?

Let me rephrase that... could Dan Rather have gotten a correct answer at all?

Oh, never mind...

I suggest that writing to your local CBS affliate and advising that A:) You will oppose their license renewal because they no longer act "in the public interest" by airing articles based on forged documents; and B:) You will be contacting all their advertisers to advise then you will no longer do business with XYZ corp as long as they sponsor such garbage.

It couldn't hurt!

Haven't watched or listened to a CBS affiliate in at least 15 years""

For many reasons, cannot blame you, but I will say that CSI is one of the best shows I have ever been addicted to.

RE: Pajamas and work

My wonderful memory for totally useless details reminds me of a WSJ story about NPR about 15 years back.

All, okay, many, of those "correspondents" or "contributors" that are on in the morning are sitting at home, at the kitchen table, having their coffee, still in their pjs, on the phone, delivering their stories.

So, now, because all the bloggers and website participants aren't getting paid, delivering hard and relevant facts,
rather than NPR PC blather, it's no longer chic or a status symbol, but something to look down upon.

The way CBS and Dan Rather have conducted themselves in light of credible evidence that these memos are forgeries is so far below any acceptable standard of professional journalistic conduct that anyone in the CBS newsroom who hasn't resigned in protest (and there are none that I know of) should be fired.

I agree .. turn it off.

I have turned off CBS for the last 8 years. As of last week, CBS's 60 Minutes (both Sunday and Wednesday Editions) are now banned in our house.
