BREAKING: John Kerry lied about his service in the Navy
John Kerry for President website ^ | 13 September 2004 | self

"John F. Kerry's campaign literature claimed that he 'served in the U.S. Navy.' The only problem? He didn't!"

According to several quotes from the linked page, as well as numerous statements throughout the campaign, John Kerry has repeated made the claim to have been a member of the US Navy.

John Kerry was NEVER a member of the US Navy! He was a member of the US Navy Reserve.

** When questioned about this whale of a lie, DNC Communications Director Jano Cabrera responded, "John Kerry has a clear pattern of fully disclosing all details about his military service. From 1971 to the present day, John Kerry has consistantly told the voters the truth about his service. The Senator has come clean. This is obviously a technicality and a vicious attempt by the VRWC to impugn Senator Kerry. As anyone who has ever served would know, the distiction between Naval Reserve and the Navy is, especially amoung officers, almost none existant." ***

All these silly arguments abut National Guard vs Air Force and USN vs USNR would not be necessary if more people had military service in their background, most especially Big Media. They know nothing and want to know even less.

I'm totally confused. Did Jano Cabrera post that response on a web site, or in an email to you? Where did you find the info that John Kerry was never in the Navy? I thought he was Navy, then switched over to Reserve at the end of his duty? Help with links, I'm lost...

Yes, it is. I am also tired of hearing Kerry comment on VP Cheney's deferments. Kerry never seems to mention that he also sought a deferment.... all his "send me" is a bunch of hooey. His deferment got turned down, it's not like he didn't try to avoid going to Vietnam. It's also interesting how he could, on the one hand, attack Vietnam veterans as baby killers, village razers, Genghis Khan-wannabes (or is that Khan-abees?), etc., and then turn around and criticize Cheney for not serving. Gee, if Kerry was sincere in his protests of the war, you'd think he would applaud VP Cheney for avoiding service and thus not having to act "in a fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan." Typical.... serving in Vietnam was honorable, but only for Kerry (except when he could make more political hay as a war protester). Serving in Vietnam, of course, means nothing about the honor of the Swift Boat vets (even if they served more than four months). Vietnam service is a "get out of criticism free" card only when applied to Kerry. Then when Kerry decides he is actually a war protester, attacking the war is the correct course (except for when he needs to resurrect his heroic service for this campaign)... and not serving is the real shame (at least for Dick Cheney... of course for Bill Clinton a totally different analysis is applied). My head is spinning.

Not worth much.

He was on active duty and therefore was in the US Navy. Simply because he had a reserve rather than a regular Navy commission is pretty much irrelevant. Let's keep our sights on some real problem areas with Kerry, not this meaningless stuff.

"We, the German Führer and Chancellor, and the British Prime Minister, have had a further meeting today and are agreed in recognizing that the question of Anglo-German relations is of the first importance for our two countries and for Europe.
We regard the agreement signed last night and the Anglo-German Naval Agreement as symbolic of the desire of our two peoples never to go to war with one another again.
We are resolved that the method of consultation shall be the method adopted to deal with any other questions that may concern our two countries, and we are determined to continue our efforts to remove possible sources of difference, and thus to contribute to assure the peace of Europe." Chamberlain read the above statement in front of 10 Downing St. and said:

"My good friends, for the second time in our history, a British Prime Minister has returned from Germany bringing peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time...
Go home and get a nice quiet sleep."

Britsh Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, 30 September, 1938

BWAHAHA. I can't believe how stupid the political advisors for the Kerry campaign are.

They are about as useful as CBS fact checkers.
