It's clear that the only way CBS will ever regain even a fraction of its credibility is for Dan Rather to resign, immediately. Since CBS executives have, to date, refused to even acknowledge the possibility that they've not been taken by a fraud, but then perpetuated this fraud on the American people - it's time to take action.

So, welcome to RatherGate.com This site is about action. So many websites have done so much good work debunking the forgeries and compiling the evidence - we'll leave that in their capable hands. There are just a few of them listed there in the sidebar.

FreeRepublic has carried the water on this for days - now let's get active.

Where did cBS get the phoney memos?

That's exactly what I want to know. This is much worse than Watergate and the DNC is involved up to it's overhanging browridge.

I was wondering of there is recourse to teh FCC?

I mean, the granting of broadcast license is teh granting of a public trust...and the duty of the broadcast outlet, ultimately, is to the communities served....

By knowingly broadcasting lies, and then willfully refusing to address recant these lies, even after they have been manifestly been proven to be lies, is to breach the faith and trust of the community. One would presume that the communities would be better served by television stations who could be relied upon to refrain from concocting false "news" stories in an abuse of public trust and in a blatant attempt to effect an election through malicious slander.

Now, these complaints could, reasonably, only be targeted at those stations that are owned by CBS and/or Viacom...but it would seem to be the place to start. Especially since every moment of delay that CBS allows before recanting the story (or at the very least, admitting that there are some questions surrounding its veracity and they are investigating) is another day wherein they are flagrantly putting Dan Rather's political and career motivations ahead of the public trust.

The probability that any technology in existence in 1972 would be capable of producing a document that is nearly pixel-compatible with Microsoft’s Times New Roman font and the formatting of Microsoft Word, and that such technology was in casual use at the Texas Air National Guard, is so vanishingly small as to be indistinguishable from zero.

Yeah, but it is possible, right? :^)

The site you posted looks just dandy until you click on the "send a fax" to CBS button. This new site wants a minimum of $12.00 (and my credit card number) to send out faxes demanding that Dan Rather resign to CBS affiliates.

This makes me wonder if its not a "rather" clever bit of opportunism.

Fulfillment is a headache. If I could figure out a way to do all the mailmerging and blast faxing for free - I sure would.

Actually, I'd be happy to send the faxes myself. Perhaps you could list your phone numbers and contacts persons at CBS so that we could do this as an alternative option.

hugs, Marty

What I want to know is who forged the documents...if it turns out to be someone at the DNC or at the Kerry campaign, that's a much bigger story than CBS's role in disseminating the documents. At this point, it is still possible that it was some low-level Democrat in a state organization, or a freelance Bush-hater, who cooked up the documents, and that the DNC was simply taken in. We won't find out if all the attention is directed at CBS.

Personally, I'm hoping it turns out to be someone very high in the Kerry organization...

I want CBS to fire Dan Rather right now, but they won't. It will take someon coming out giving solid proff that these memos are w/out a doubt forged and fraudulent. I think only than will CBS do something and fire Dan Rather.

It's clear that the only way CBS will ever regain even a fraction of its credibility is for Dan Rather to resign, immediately

CBS does not care about credibility. They have long ago abandoned any pretense at objectivity and any attempt to uncover truth. They are now a blatant propaganda arm of the liberal Democrats, intending not to report news, but to shape events with agit-prop.
