** Dan Rather and *dnC*BS - HISTORY OF POLITICAL DECEPTION **
ratherbiased.com ^

Posted on 09/10/2004 11:14:05 AM PDT by woodb01

Over the years, Dan Rather has acquired a reputation for "jumping the gun" on big news events, reporting something as a fact that has not been established in his haste to get the scoop. Here are a few of Rather's "exclusives." For our coverage of Rather being tricked by a Howard Stern fan during his coverage of the space shuttle Columbia disaster, see Previous News.

THE $$$$ 64,000 QUESTION - Did Dan Rather or a member of the DNC fabricate those documents?  My guess is that someone at the DNC did because the media campaign and DemonRat Socialist Talking point were ALREADY BEING HAMMERED BEFORE RATHER'S DISASTER!!!

Second Question, with Rather's HISTORICAL PATTERN of media deception, WHY HAS *dnC*BS kept him on the air?

They keep trying to pin this on Bush by saying the White House "didn't question their accuracy"...  HOW COULD THE BUSH WHITEHOUSE KNOW WHAT KILLIAN WAS THINKING AT THE TIME?  SHOULDN'T CBS / DNC HAVE VETTED THEM BETTER THAN THAT?

The most important thing you can do is to contact CBS and voice your disgust about Dan Rather.  Second, about CBS's anti-Bush taint, and third, send media links to the controversy to the advertisers and lodge a complaint with the advertisers that they must repudiate the 60 Minutes hit piece.  Do they want their products associated with a politically motivated hatchet job which turns out to be a fraud?

CBS 60 Minutes Hit Piece on Bush

This should be enough to put a LOT of heat on CBS if you're willing to do the work.   Complain to CBS advertisers.  Most of these are advertisers that were involved with the 60 Minutes slam on Bush, but hey, complain to them and ask for them to pull their advertising from the Bush Hating CBS...

Another thing you can do is tell them and their sponsors that you will be deleting the CBS affiliate from the channel rotation on your TV. Let their advertisors know that you won't even stumble on CBS by ACCIDENT.

I have contacted advertisers and CBS is this something for the FCC to probe?

For First Amendment reasons, the FCC will NOT get involved in this. If Rather keeps saying the documents are genuine while CBS runs articles like today saying that they are questionable, CBS might have to fire Dan Rather as a rating-killing disaster of a talking-head.

But the FCC has no jurisdiction over the firing of Rather. Notice that the FCC could not even order any broadcaster to fire Howard Stern. They could only impose major fines which would influence the hiring choices of the broadcasters. There is no basis in the law for the FCC to fine CBS for Rather's forgery broadcasts.

I have a better suggestion! If you own stock in any company that advertises on dnCBS, send their Investor Relations department a message DEMANDING that they audit the bills for accuracy and truthfulness.

CBS is lying about these memos and Rather and their allegations of Lournalistic ethics." I have to assume that they've also been lying about the numbers that form the basis for the billing rates. DEMAND that they take their advertising bucks in the further to a reliable outlet and audit to confirm whether the billing is deceptive, too.

I just sent an email to 60 Minutes II. Here it is. Be sure to visit the link.

Dear 60 Minutes,

I am appalled by the coverage that all of these computer hackers are getting concerning the Bush memos. It takes alot of nerve to question the journalisic integrity of CBS news.

While at work I uncovered some critical information that may help in this and future stories. Please pass this along to Dan.

I just blasted off some more e-mails threatening massive boycotts of any company which chooses to advertise on CBS 60 Minutes. The gauntlet must be laid down. All good men must now come to the aid of our country and the call of the day is get CBS to come clean or hold those propping up this pathetic network fully accountable.

Thanks for your e-mail to Kimberly-Clark about our advertising during the
television show, 60 Minutes II.

We recognize that personal interests and tastes vary; and comments, such
as yours, help us understand how people feel about our advertising and the
programs during which we advertise. You can be confident that your
opinion is important to us and that we will share your remarks with those
who are involved.

Because our advertising schedules are determined far in advance, it is
virtually impossible for us to know the content of every episode of a
program series. When we do know a show's content, we try not to be
associated with objectionable programming.

You may also want to present your views directly to the network if you
have not already done so. We appreciate your taking the time to share
your concerns with us.

Somehow I can hear at some point cueball Carville saying "He@# yeah, run with it. Give it to Rather". And then more recently Mary saying.... "you dummy".

I know you're being sarcastic here, but seriously, the past few days smells of Carville does it not? I think he got them into a room and said let's put as much crap out there as we can on these guys.

Next thing, we have this guy Barnes, out there, Kitty Kelly, Susan Estidge etc. out there.

In addition, his rebuttal everytime he opens his trap, is to insert the phrase, "George Bush was AWOL," thinking that it is going to stick because the reporter doesn't force him to retract it.

The guy is a low life political hack.

I agree with you. Kerry's campaign took an even worse (more vicious) turn when Carville walked in.

HERE IS WHAT I AM SENDING:

Dan Rather, on CBS 60 Minutes, presented fake documents to the American people in an attempt to discredit President Bush. The documents have been proven to be fakes, and Dan Rather continues to stand by his lies.

Dan Rather also attended, and was a Keynote Speaker, at a Democrat Fundraiser in Texas proving his bias against the Republican Party. Dan Rather has acknowledged his bias (and apologized) in a recent interview with Geraldo Rivera.

Dan Rather of CBS is blatantly biased and incapable of presenting, and representing, the news to the American public. Biased reporting of the “news” is unacceptable and deserves an appropriate response.

I am “deleting” all CBS affiliated channels from all of the televisions in my household (including and especially my children’s televisions) and advising all of my friends to do the same. Your advertisements will not show in my household or the households of my friends.

I will also use my best efforts to NOT purchase any of your products until you pull your advertisements from CBS.

I will put the CBS channels back on my televisions when Dan Rather apologizes for using his position with CBS for his partisan political antics and resigns.

As you can tell, I have had it with the biased media.

Sincerely,

Doug MMMMMMM

I talked on the phone this morning to a Harkin staffer. He was pretty much shell shocked. "No we don't know if the Senator is going to retract his statements. No we don't know if the Senator is going to comment on the validity of the documents". It was pretty funny.
