Colin Powell Calls Sudanese Rampage “Genocide”
War to Mobilize Democracy ^ | September 9, 2004

Posted on 09/09/2004 8:14:40 AM PDT by forty_years

U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, speaking before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee today, has called the Sudanese rampage against Black Africans a “genocide:”

We concluded that genocide has been committed in Darfur and that the government of Sudan and the Janjaweed [Arab militia] bear responsibility and genocide may still be occurring.

The Sudanese government has been sponsoring a campaign of mass rape, mass murder, forced relocations, and forced starvation against Black Africans in Darfur.

The BBC today tried to spin the usual “the U.S. is damned if it does and damned if it doesn’t” argument today:

Critics point out that Colin Powell first demanded Khartoum stop the violence at the beginning of July.

Two months later, they say, the government still has not met key demands, yet the US is proposing allowing it another 30 days.

US officials have denied they are "going easy" on Khartoum by allowing it more time to comply.

That’s strange. While the U.S. has continually pushed for tough actions against Sudan, the Weasels at the United Nations Human Rights Commission has been expressing solidarity with a government sponsoring rape, mass murder, and ethnic cleansing. The UN last year put Libya in charge of the Commission, despite objections from rights advocates like Human Rights Watch (HRW). Also last year, the UN voted to give well-known human rights violator Cuba a seat on the commission. Obviously the Commission, a group of dictatorships, is unwilling to do anything about atrocities committed against Black people in the Sudan.

Remember, socialists LOVE genocide so it should be no surprise that the socialist European news outlets would work to divert attention away from the actual killing and somehow make the US wrong for trying to stop it.

You're right about socialists loving genocide. Some are arguing that the term "Islamo-facism" should be replaced with "Islamo-bolshevism." This doesn't negate the evils of facism, but the commies have killed many more, just in sheer numbers: 80 million dead from Mao; millions dead from Lenin/Stalin -- 800,000 in one year alone; Pol Pot killed 1.5 million; etc., etc. The commies are also great at terrorism.

"The commies are also great at terrorism"

Whether national SOCIALISTS (nazis) on the "right" or soviet SOCIALISTS (commies) on the left, what these genocidal, totalitarian states have in common are socialist economies. Both ideologies were created by Europeans and adopted outside of Europe by other genocidal "socialist" leaders. Whatever it is, there is something about socialism and totalitarianism that go together - It is wanting the control, I suppose. That is why democrats are so dangerous - They want to control every aspect of your life in the name of the "greater good" just like Hitler, Stalan, Mao, Pol Pot, etc., etc. Heaven help you if you get in their way. All ends justify their means.

Never be fooled by the silly statement made by so may ignorant lefties (I hear it a lot out here in the Bay Area California) that "RELIGION has killed more people...blah, blah, blah." I always correct them and point out that SOCIALISTS have killed more people in the 20th century alone than in all the wars in human history COMBINED.

You know you win when they resort to name calling.

The Crisis In Darfur Secretary Colin L. Powell Testimony Before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Washington, DC September 9, 2004

This is big.

This is the 1st time a high level Bush official has called this "Genocide".

IMO This should be bumped to BREAKING.

This is kind of strange, but I have very good knowledge of a group inside the United States that has been linked in law enforcement documents I have seen with the terrorists who did the 1993 WTC bombing.

I have also looked a phone records that show members of this group made phone calls to Afghanistan and the Sudan.

This isn't just the U.S. opposed to genocide, this is part of the War on Terror.

Hmmm, interesting assertion. I don't disagree that this is part of the WOT.
