Ralph Peters latest---TERRORIZING SCHOOLS
NY POST ^ | 9/8/04 | Ralph peters

September 8, 2004 -- THE horror of the terror attack on a Russian primary school still resounds. From security officers to soccer moms, the sudden question is, "How can we protect our children from terror?" In the short term, the only conceivable answer is to renew our offensive efforts against these butchers who claim to act in the name of their god. But a crucial part of the long-term answer is perfectly clear to the terrorists, even if we ignore it.

The terrorist assault on civilization and modernity has many aspects, from barbarism toward women to bombings and massacres. But no dimension of the struggle is more important than the Islamist war against secular education. All other progress flows from knowledge. And the terrorists know it.

Last week's school seizure in Beslan, in the rolling fields that rise toward the Caucasus, had layers of intent. First, the Chechen killers and their Arab allies intended to punish Russia as brutally as they could for Moscow's refusal to allow Chechnya to become an independent terrorist state.

Much as the MSM tried to ignore the Swift Boat Vets for Truth, they are trying to ignore the horror in Russia.

We are watching, we KNOW.

--snip to end--

A millennium ago, Islam ruled much of this earth — not just with arms, but with knowledge and culture — while the West lay mired in ignorance. Now the situation is reversed. And, instead of laboring to become competitive again, the most dynamic forces in the Muslim world have declared knowledge their enemy. Laying our wishful thinking aside, the truth is that the Middle East may never recover.

Naturally, we focus on the Islamist attacks against our own civilization. But the terrorists are doing far more harm to the Muslim world than they ever have done to us.

The human beasts in that school in Russia — or wherever Islamists seek to stifle learning — weren't just the West's enemies. They're the cruelest enemies Islam has ever faced, worse than the Mongols.

Meanwhile, Islam's most powerful clerics look away. The world is still waiting for Islamic leaders and scholars to condemn the terrorist attack in Russia. Their silence has been heartbreaking.

And silence in the face of atrocity is complicity.

I for one am extremely concerned about the safety of our schools. The fact that I don't have children doesn't diminish my concern.

On another front I'm more concerned about the silence of liberals than clerics on this matter. With islamic clerics we at least know that they're animals who celebrate bloodlettings. With liberals they don't want to talk about it because they're afraid it will help Bush. They seem willing to sacrifice safety to install a candidate who will tell them happy stories.

I hate to say it but an attack on a school in "anywhere" USA would be worse then 9/11..it would have 50 million parents thinking this could happen to me anytime anywhere--not just "NYC and washington" That what terrorism is to terrorize the minds and souls of people..we must realize this is an all out war and Iraq just another battle.

"their silence is heartbreaking"
silence = complicity
well said.

the simple fact remains, their silence is educational.
liberals, the media and the muslims.
now is the time to fully expose the media and liberals for
the fraud they all are.
I believe that you know what to do --

Yes, these episodes are very educational, both about the true face of islam, and our own media bias.
