Lawsuits are filed every day by entities not necessarily intending or expecting to win. It costs money to defend one's self against legal action, and discovery can open your entire private life to the scrutiny of the black hats. And the process takes time - MoveonforAmerica.org could be fighting legalized thuggery for years (and certainly for 60 some odd days, by which time the election will be over).

Something doesn't smell right. The voice, the tone, just not well done. I smell a 'rat.

I totally agree, these ads are amateurish. There is plenty of ammunition that can be used against this fraud of a candidate, but with poor production values and slightly off target messages are used, it dilutes the bigger picture.

You may want to ping again and note caution. This group is suspect.

The Blogspirator has an article with background info about the guy doing these ads...MoveOver Swifties: New 527 Exposes Kerry's "Willie Horton" Moment/Estrich has Carville "This Is Wah!" Moment

I think Carville puts at least two vowels in to War, and it comes out more like "This is Waw-ah"

Curious...reserving judgement on whether this is a legit attempt to help W, or a sneak attempt to provoke a "backlash"...hard to say whether it will helpful in either case!

Adam, if "az" is "AZ", do you know anything about Stephen Marks? Talk show host in Phoenix? (good link, BTW!)

Exactly... MoveOn would not waste its own money on a publicity stunt like that unless they thought they had a case. Their money is very tightly budgeted -- not because they are short of cash, but because they have calculated what they need for each leg of their media strategy. This is obvious to anyone following them.

Lawsuits -- especially in TM -- are costly.

This (these new ads) will only hurt Bush and dilute the effectiveness of the Swift Boat heroes. Repeat, this will only hurt Bush and dilute the effectiveness of the Swift Boat heroes. Please do all you can to relegate these ads to the trashbin of history. The Democommies and their willing media accomplices are frothing at the mouth for something like this. It could cost Bush the election. That is not an over-reaction. The president's re-election is much too fragile. Newsweek and Time exaggerate the bounce...AP demonstrates what lengths the media will go to in the "crowd boos" lie...then, there will be events beyond Bush's or anybody's control....Think of it this way: When the media can change the vote of one person in 50, that is a 4-point swing...Say, theoretically, Bush leads, 52-48. A media lie changes the minds of 1 person in 50, equal to 2 in 100, away from Bush, and to Kerry..That means Bush drops from 52-48 lead to 50-50 tie. The running of these ads - which certainly appear, on the surface, at least - to be racist - can only harm Bush.

Aren't we now in campaign reform's "dark" period, when TV ads can't mention or show candidates?

You are misguided in your attack on Fester, he has had several other posts I believe.

I really wouldn't worry. There is too much 527 noise for these ads to impact either candidate.

I'm sort of an expert in this area :)

So, take a chill and enjoy your Labor Day.

Bingo! The amateurish voiceover renders it a high school video...

No thanks MoveOnForAmerica. Swiftboats are saying it all.

Regardless, IMHO we would be better served sticking with the original Swifties. They are a known entity. If there are wild charge ads sent out into the either, the effect may be to choke off the media oxygen that the Swifties have built up.

Defeating Kerry is the desired outcome, not running ads or airing grievances.

Here's an article with details of the case.

found at: http://www.amnesty133.org/ai/actionteams/dp/g_reissfelder.html

"Yesterday's dismissal of the murder charge marked the culmination of two
years of work by Reissfelder's court-appointed Boston attorneys Roanne
Sragow and her associate, John Kerry. Reissfelder won a new trial last
June, largely on the basis of a deathbed statement in 1972 by his
codefendant, William Sullivan of Charlestown. As he lay dying of leukemia,
Sullivan told a priest that Reissfelder was innocent.

The two men had been convicted of first-degree murder and armed robbery
during a $20,000 payroll holdup at the Railway Express Agency at Boston's
South Station in 1966. Witnesses identified Reissfelder as being at the
scene of the crime.

But for the 15 years of his incarceration, Reissfelder insisted that he
did not commit the murder."

"A key witness, Rev. Edward D. Cowhig of Gate Heaven Church, South Boston,
testified that before Sullivan died in prison of leukemia he told the
priest that he had never met Reissfelder before the two were tried and
convicted of murder."

In 1998, Cowhig lost an appeal on a suit against Togo West (Secretary of the Army).

found at: http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/cgi-bin/getcase.pl?court=1st&navby=case&no=981705

"Plaintiff has now filed five meritless actions in the District of Massachusetts, and at least two others elsewhere, pertaining to the same incident--his 1962 discharge from the Army."

I wonder if Kerry ever represented him.

MoveOn has a heck of a lot more resources than MoveOnforAmerica does. And access to more, with the bottomless well of George Soros' checkbook standing just offstage. Properly laundered, they have access to more money than the RNC.

Which is why my olfactory sensors are detecting a large smelly rodent when it comes to MoveOnforAmerica - if MoveOn truly wanted to stifle the message of their namesake, they'd be flying lawyers in on cargo planes as we speak.

I think the first ad is totall lame. The second ad has more potential, but it doesn't quite work as well as it might. Wasn't Al Sharpton also involved in a riot that led to the death of a Hassidic Jew in Brooklyn?

Stephen Marks is a writer for Penthouse. Be careful who you let call you a "friend."

It's also highly suspicious that this new "conservative" group run by the Penthouse writer is airing its ads in the Washington, D.C. market...hardly a battle-ground state.

I am with you, Swifties for me. Why buy an untested group's ad
when we have the tested original in the marketplace of
ideas.

I was not impressed with the ad quality either.
