Russian TV shows the face of terror

Moscow - Russian state television on Monday paraded what officials said was the only suspected hostage-taker still alive of the gang who held 1 000 children and adults in a school in southern Russia for three days.
Channel One showed a man who looked like he was from the Caucasus, with a haggard face and his arms handcuffed high behind his back, flanked by two masked men in camouflage.
His chin and cheeks, visible under stubble, were whiter than the rest of his face, which proved according to the television channel that he had shaved off his beard just before the hostage raid to make it easier to flee afterwards.
The suspect, now in the hands of the intelligence services and whose name and nationality were not released, was firing with an automatic weapon and hiding behind children at the moment of his capture, according to Channel One.
'I didn't want to die! By Allah, I don't want to die!' "Did you fire on the hostages?" one of the military asked him.
His eyes wide with fear, he insisted in strongly accented Russian: "By Allah, I have not shot" and "By Allah, I have not killed."
Pressed why he had not had pity on the children, held for 51 hours without food or water in stifling heat, he replied desperately: "Yes, I did have pity, I have children too."
"They (the commando's leaders) told us: 'If the hostages start to flee, fire on them', but then they said: 'Fire into the air'", he said. "I swear, I didn't want to die! By Allah, I don't want to die!" the man repeated wildly.
The television footage briefly showed some of the bodies of the dead hostage-takers, some with disfigured faces and long beards.
According to investigators, the captured man has been very cooperative: he notably gave all the names of his accomplices and described in detail the preparations of the hostage raid, the world's most deadly in recent history.
"He is ready to answer all questions providing we don't hand him over to the families of his victims," the television commentary said.
A bearded journalist mistaken for one of the hostage-takers in the chaos during the bloody end of the hostage crisis on Friday narrowly escaped with his life thanks to police when a mob seized hold of him and started beating him to death.

I'm sure he was quite brave in the face of small children and the parents and teachers trying to protect their precious lives.
Let him talk, THEN give him over to the families of the victims............

This is EXACTLY what SHOULD happen. He won't last five minutes.
They're going to torture him. They're going to learn every name of every person that this guy has known since he was the age of 3.
And they will learn what they need to know.
And there will be no ACLU to protect him.
No Nancy Pelosi to protect him.
No Tom Daschle to protect him.
No Tom Harkin to protect him.
No John Kerry to protect him.
No Howard Dean to protect him.
No John Edwards to protect him.
No moveon.org to protect him.
No Michael Moore to protect him.
No NY Times to protect him.
No Washington Post to protect him.
No MSNBC to protect him.
No CNN to protect him.
No Al Gore to protect him.
No Al Sharpton to protect him.
The Russians will just simply and totally learn the name of every single person that this person knows. Completely. Totally. Without a doubt. And without any consideration of his rights.
Boy, aren't we glad we live in a society with so many protections... and so many protectors?

BTW how big is this town? Seems they lost alot of their children. Heart wrenching. I think a lynching might help them cope.
These guys are real brave when it comes to women, children, the elderly and infirm, but are spineless cowards when confronted with other men.
I wonder if people like Bill Maher still see these guys as brave.

One reason he's "the only surviving hostage-taker" is that the locals DID lynch one of the vermin when they tore him away from his police guards. I bet they felt at least a little better afterwards.
The movie Pulp Fiction made the words "get medieval on your a$$" famous... but "getting medieval" on someone is nothing compared to getting Stalinistic on someone. Putin is an ex-KGB'er. He might be one hell of a lousy leader (they didn't even surround the school properly) but I'll bet my bottom dollar he's no slacker when it comes to his ability to direct the "State Organs" to put their "full weight" on an "enemy of the state".
I rejoice thinking that this guy is in KGB hands. For the first time ever, in my life, I am happy that someone is in the hands of the KGB (by another name, now, of course).

Well, I hope they do have one of the terrorists because for every actual terrorists about 50 people are goving some kind of support--logistical, financial, weapons, etc.
They have people above them to organizing the terrorism. The actual terrorists are the tip of the iceberg.
I am taking a course on terrorism at an Army base now and that is what the book says.

He may not want to die, but I suspect that whatever remains of his life will be much worse than death. The Russians are not eaten up with political correctness nor any misplaced 'sensitivities' to this scumbags religion. If he lives very much longer at all, I suspect it will be in a small dark room being fed nothing but pork rinds between daily beatings.

The point of this post is not to vent righteous anger but to understand as happened in 9/11, that some of the low-level conscripted "militants" did not know the objectives and scope of the operation until they were in the thick of it, and were forced to co-operate. That is not to justify their participation, but to understand how the terror leaders operate, lying to their own people.
I never thought they were brave, just that they pretend to be with women and children.
