Draft Brit Hume to Moderate at Least One Presidential Debate! Please Help Out This Effort!

Posted on 09/05/2004 10:03:58 AM PDT by jmstein7

Despite what you have heard, the list of moderators for the upcoming debates is not final -- both sides are still negotiating details (I have this from the highest sources).

If any of you watched the Democrat debates, you will have noted that the best moderators were Brit Hume and (shockingly) Peter Jennings.  Peter aside, I think we should at least try to make a little noise for Mr. Hume.  There are enough FReepers to at least create a moderate stir.

So, here is what you need to do:

Call FoxNews at 1-888-369-4762 and leave a message stating that you would like to see Mr. Hume moderate one debate.  Also call the following entities and leave similar messages:

Commission on Presidential Debates:  (202) 872-1020

Bush-Cheney '04:  703.647.2700

The Republican National Committee:  202.863.8500

This will only become an issue if we MAKE it into one; so, please do your part.  If enough people call/write, it will at least advance the proposal.

Also, email the following entities and let them know that you would like Mr. Hume to moderate a debate:

Fox News (Brit's Show): Special@foxnews.com

The RNC:  info@gop.com

Bush-Cheney '04:  BushCheney04@GeorgeWBush.com

Please make sure your friends and family do the same.  The least we can do is put the idea out there and on the table.  We have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I am comforted that the president is being represented in the debate negotiations by Jim Baker. As we saw in the 2000 Florida drama, there's no one better to have on your side. He made the Rats look like rank amateurs.

I wonder why this has been presented as a done deal. I think Bob Schiefer was supposed to be a moderator and I heard him only recently spouting the liberal line and wondered how we got stuck with him. Brit should have been the first GOP pick and now that we know the choice is still open I certainly will go down your list and request that Brit be chosen for moderator in at least one debate.

I'll email these three places, but I'm not sure how this works. Do you ask Fox that they support Brit to be one of the moderators? How are moderators nominated?

Where is it carved in stone that there must be debates? The way things are trending, there doesn't seem to be much benefit to Bush giving Kerry a soapbox (though I do believe that if he did, Kerry would become unhinged, ala Howard Dean).

I'd rather see John Gibson do the moderating. Kerry probably wouldn't even show up in that case.

John Gibson as a moderator, now that's a really funny thought. How about Brian Kilmeade?
