Not to be overly pedantic, but it's spelled (and pronounced) Jen-jis Khan.

I should know, I went to a fancy pants Swiss Boarding School.

I am looking at some CHINGGIS KHAN Mongolian Vodka right now. When I was there, they were just rediscovering their history and everthing was named Chinggis Kahn.

Great people, would like to visit them again sometime.

God bless Genghis Khan. It was his hoards which stopped Arab imperialistic expansion and caused a severe crisis of confidence among the Muslims.

About a third of his commanders were Christians. (Nestorians I believe.) If the Organized Christians (Catholics and Orthodox) weren't such jackasses they would have welcomed the Christian Mongols and put an end to the evil that is Islam.

Chingis Khan means Khan between the oceans (in other words, ruler of the whole steppe.)
He was never given the title of Khan-Khan (or Khagan) as Temujin was not of one of the royal/priestly lines among the Turks and other Altaic peoples. The only Khaganates were that of the Tibetans, Uyghurs, Kok-Turkut, and Khazars (the later two being ruled by the same Asina clan).

Temujin was a Tengrist who saw monotheism as the basis of autocracy. He famously said that as there is a great Sky God in the heavens (Tengri), so to there should be one ruler on the earth.

According to my friends:

GHENGIS KHAN: A barbarian with political beliefs just to the left of Caipirabob.

What is this "Jen-jis" crap Kerry said in his treason film against the nation? If you pay an extra 20K per college credit you get to reinvent the names of historical figures? Did I miss something or do I now have to pronounce "Ghosts" as "Joests"?

Who is Ghengis Khan?

John Wayne's WORST screen role. An incredible bit of miscasting. However, there was even worse miscasting in another John Wayne role when Janet Leigh portrayed a Russian female pilot in Jet Pilot without even the hint of an accent. Also the jets in the movie (made around 1949) were already obsolete when Howard Hughs released it around 1958. The plot also made no sense. Somehow John Wayne "defected" to the commies and landed with Janet Leigh in Siberia. The security of the commies was so poor that Wayne and Leigh easily stole a jet plane in Siberia and came back to the states for a steak dinner (I kid you not).

Ghengis Khan is actually a title. The full title is "Ghengis Kha Khan" meaning roughly "Lord over the whole earth." The actual name of the first Khan was Temujin. If you want to read an excellent book on this subject, I recommend Harold Lamb's "Ghengis Khan."

Ghengis Khan stopped the crusades by his conquering of the Arabic, Turkish and Persian empires. The first major battle won by him was when he defended himself against his feudal lord, Prestor John of Mongolia. The first major battle lost by his armies were when they were defeated by the Mamelukes of Egypt.

While he was generally pretty merciful to conquered enemies, he had no use for rebellion. He especially despised the Muslim rulers of India because of their treatment of his envoys. Not to mention that he considered the Indians to be deceitufl and untrustworthy. To keep the Muslims off balance, he wiped out entire cities and regions in India.

Marco Polo had the privilege of meeting the last of the great original Khans in Xanadu.

Temujin's armies were generally much smaller than his enemies' were, but they were much better disciplined and able to communicate during the heat of battle much better.

I don't like Kerry.

But I heartily apporve of Genghis' way of dealing with people who create problems.

We could learn a lot from him.

As for Kerry - he's just another liberal Democratic Gurlie Man.
