I sure hope they keep putting Max Cleland out front on this deal. He is a collosal embarassment for the Kerry campaign. I have no way to describe this man other than as a "disgruntled ex-Senate employee" being used by Ketchup Boy to carry his baggage for him. Cleland's indignation rings so hollow that it will be obvious to even the most uninformed among us.
This is such a transparent ploy to stretch the time out before Kerry must inevitably respond directly to the issues raised by the Swift Vets, that even a blind man could see through it.
They are digging the hole deeper and deeper for themselves!

That may be true from Kerry's perspective. I believe Cleland's motivation has nothing to with his disability...I would bet next month's paycheck he's been promised a job.

Max Cleland was a notorious groper when he served the State of Georgia as Veteran Administration director. No woman would get in an elevator with him. He was caught on tape making sex phone calls to a subordinate, and then trashed her reputation. The front page article about this incident on 9/10/1988 has been expunged from the archives of the Atlanta Constitution.
