Daughter asking for "FReep" help

Daughters teen site. She's trying to teach liberal kids to think, but there's a lot of them. They're all using the left's talking points. She's attempting to fight them off on her own. Could use a friendly "FReeping" to come to her aid.
She's asking FReepers to say "Help is on the way." LOL.
She's 15.
The topics are abortion and the death penality.

IMHO, those are way to heavy topics for 15 y.o.'s..they can't yet formulate their own judgements..they can only parrot..get her off the computer..put her in a canoe, ride a bike..jog..tennis..let her caddy for you..whatever..the "age of innocense" passes all to soon..

Well, according to the left the death penalty is only ok for use on innocent babies, but not ok for use on convicted murderous sociopathic adults, what's to argue?

Won't happen. They need to learn how to think. That is taught in college philosophy courses.

She's home schooled. She's learning how to debate liberals. It's part of her civics class.
She's also learning how to think. Always take the shortest path to reach a goal. She's chosen to ask for assistance from like minds.
She's learning.

Let's ask one of the smartest young people in the world if she can lend a helping hand! :-)

I'm sorry, I want to help, I really do... but reading that site makes me ill. No offense meant.

Hmmm....

Strange little site, there. These journal sites, especially LiveJournal are pretty dangerous places, overall. I would not let my teenager use them at all, especially not LiveJournal.

Go take a look at the message section where people are asked to post their photos, there on Bright Shiny Thing. Ask yourself if this is the site you want your 15-year-old to visit.

Someone above suggested getting the kid away from the computer. I second that motion.

You've got that right!
The quotes you read are hers. She's doing her best.
She is making me proud, anyway, even though the enemy is many. LOL.

OK..I'll buy that...but I don't..and my comment was an honest aassessment..not meant as an indictment ..hope you didn't take it that way..but, I'll continue..if "learning" is the objective her..she won't "learn" anything arguing/debating online with a bunch of teenagers who think that abortion is cool, and a woman's right...you'd be better served, along with your daughter..finding books and articles on the subjects for her to read.. then discuss them with her..I taught the 13-15 year old in Sunday school for 4 years....it's truly amazing what's in their minds..

Have her ask her liberal friends why don't they give up some of their grades so that the "struggling" and failing students could have a higher grade.

Then have her ask her friends why doesn't the school just take grade points away from straight A students and give them to D and F students - without their permission and threaten to expel any student who objects or protests.

This obviously addresses the tax and wealth distribution issue.

My sons 14 year old girlfriend and I discussed abortion. She was uninformed; thought it was not allowed after the 6th month. I described a partial birth abortion and explained that it could be performed right up to delivery. Then i looked her in the eyes and said, "I'm very happy that your mom chose not to abort you, because I never would have gotten to know you, and the world would be without such a wonderful, sweet young lady such as yourself." The look on her face was priceless. I changed her opinion at that second, and got a big hug too.

I can't find that section. (She wouldn't be allowed to do that).

Ask her if they really know/understand what abortion is, and that the mother can also die as a result. I have taught middle school (7th & 8th) for years - they know way more than we want them to, and they have their own opinions. Best to back themm up with facts when they ask questions.

Someone above suggested getting the kid away from the computer. I second that motion.

Please allow me to third that. I applaud teaching kids how to think deeply about issues.

The following is something that Thomas Jefferson wrote in a letter and I think is very wise: "There is a certain period of life, say from eight to fifteen or sixteen years of age, when the mind, like the body, is not yet firm enough for laborious and close operations. If applied to such, it falls an early victim to premature exertion; exhibiting indeed at first, in these young and tender subjects, the flattering appearance of their being men while they are yet children, but ending in reducing them to be children when they should be men."

All children are different, to be sure, but my experience is that this for critical thinking comes later...

My neoighborhood and church are pretty liberal..three years ago, while teaching the 13-15 y.o. in Sunday school..I gave them copies of the famous pic of the infant reaching out of the womb to grasp the doctor's finger...( and if anyone has it..put it up here please..I have mine on another computer)..you should have seen the looks of awe and astonishment on their faces. I just wanted to make them think..I'm very careful never to try and preach to them..the all took the pics home, and obviously showwe their parents..and the next day the s88t hit the fan..the calls started...are we teaching a "pro-life" curricula?..funny question in a church, eh?

OK. A liberal is the kind of person who will give CPR to a rodent (hamster) and kill a tiny baby and watch it gasp for its last dying breath without doing a thing. - A liberal will march with a candle at the prison where a serial murderer is being executed and use the same candle to light at an abortion clinic to protest those marching against killing babies. You see, candles can't be wasted but babies can. - A liberal vegetarian won't so much as cut a steak, but supports stabbing a full-term baby in the neck and suctioning out its brains. - A liberal vegetarian won't
wear leather shoes, but will slather lotions and creams all over their faces which contain parts of aborted fetuses for beauty's sake (no animals used in testing product though,
of course!) - Abortion has become a type of genocide, in
many cases, of races of people who have been screaming about
"genocide" of their races for a long time - self-inflicted genocide now, though.

Look, I have heard that kind of reasoning for Christian parents sending their kids to public school. They wanted to homeschool but thought the kids should have a chance to witness to those poor public school kids. Sending ADULTS into a hostile environment to try to bring about change is all well and good but why are you sending your daughter into a sewer like that? I take it you are not homeschooling to protect her from those kinds of influences? Give her some training in logic and reason. Teaching someone to debate by sending them against irrational liberal teenagers is like teaching someone war tactics by sending them some place in Africa (like sudan). They are likely to get mentally messed up and then shot long before they learn good tactics. The same goes for debating liberal teens. All your daughter is going to be exposed to is all manner of irrational emoting in place of reason and logic. Get her out of there and find a better way to teach debate.
