Winter in Cambodia? (another recap of Kerry's lie)
US News & World Report ^ | 8/30/04 | Michael Barone

[concluding paragraph] Character counts. On the Christmas story (which even the pro-Kerry New York Times admits Kerry has not "put to rest"), perhaps Kerry was just confused about dates, or perhaps he convinced himself that an untrue story was true, as people sometimes do, and had no intent to mislead. A more unsettling possibility is that he consciously leapt the bounds of truth to make his experience seem more spectacular or to score political points. Those are not the sort of things most people want in a president.

Will Kerry's evidently untrue statements about Christmas in Cambodia raise doubts about his as-yet-uncorroborated stories about later Cambodian missions? Will they undermine his credibility and bolster the charges of his swift boat critics? Not clear. Most of Kerry's boat mates testify to his heroism; most of those serving on other swift boats in the unit take a different view. So far as I know, all served honorably and are entitled to respectful attention; some may have political motives, in both directions. Battlefield memories inevitably and understandably differ. But character counts in presidents, and some of Kerry's statements over the years-not all, but some-count against his character.

The swift-vet are doing a marvelous job.

1. They attack his hero status (he is a sissy).

2. They attack his anti-war activities.

3. They will attack his record on supporting the troops and defending America based upon his senate record.

Kerry is toast, buttered on both sides with deception.

Blessings, Bobo

You know, I'm trying to remember if I ever had four months as interesting as Kerry's four months in Vietnam.

I feel certain that I must be overlooking four months, somewhere, somewhere in my life. Four months, 16 weeks that could give meaning and purpose to my entire existence. Four months, 16 weeks, and my repudiation of them, that could give meaning to my life.

Four months, and my slandering of those people I had spent that time with, a brief time, that could define me; and my rejection of it, and my slander, and my.....

ARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH, ok, I'm insane, but I'm not running for president.

Me too. There is something sad about the guy who, at age 60, is still telling the story of the time he scored the winning touchdown and saved the game for Centerville High. He tells that story because he hasn't done anything worth mentioning since.

By the way, did you know that Kerry served in Viet Nam?

I still want to know where he ranks among Vietnam officers in purple hearts.

How many other officers earned three purple hearts?

What was the shortest period of time it took?

Of those that did, how many got an "early out?"

WHO KNOWS THE ANSWERS TO THESE QUESTIONS?!!!

"By the way, did you know that Kerry served in Viet Nam?"

And have you observed that he is not only French-looking, he is actually French?

Plus, his wife is a white colonialist, that would never be permitted of a republican wife. But then again, how many good cloth coats does Ter-ray-zaa own?

John O'Neill recently commented that, before long, it will be Valentines Day in Cambodia

"Will Kerry's evidently untrue statements about Christmas in Cambodia raise doubts about his as-yet-uncorroborated stories about later Cambodian missions?"

Nope, it raises doubts about everything he says about Vietnam, and more. If he can state that something is "seared" in his memory which turns out to be a complete fabrication, how are we to believe him about anything else? The detail about it being Christmas is an important part of his lie. It ads texture to the story. Every single Vietnam veteran remembers where he spent his Christmas in Vietnam, and it is genuinely "seared" in our memory. It's akin to saying you were near the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, then later stating you mixed up the dates and you were actually near the World Trade Center on December 18, 2000. Would anyone believe you just mixed up the dates? The media needs to face the fact Kerry is a proven liar.

I wonder. Is there an audio archive of Kerry in the senate reciting his cambidia speach?

That would make a good commercial.

I am truly sorry you are insane.

You might consider becoming a Democrat. At least you could fit in.

JUST KIDDING!

Your post was funny. I have often found that truth can be found in a good laugh.

Since nobody else has given the perfunctory reply, I guess the responsibility falls upon me:

On which side?

On which side?

Knowing what he did when he got back, how can we ask that with a smile??

Goodness I sure cant!

I will never orget having beer bottle sthrown at me from cars as late as 1977 when I came home from boot camp.

This man is even worse than Clinton.

Did you ever think it would be this bad, Jeff?

I also hope Kerry is toast. Can anyone please tell me why Kerry left Vietnam after only 4 months? I thought most tours were 1 year?

He left after 4 months because he had 3 Purple Hearts, which entitles anyone who asks to go home. So he did, because he could.

IMHO, he cynically exploited the system to get out (just what I want in a CIC-NOT).

The alliterative Christmas in Cambodia story is what is going to do Kerry in.

Kerry is one or two pointed follow-up questions away from having to admit fabricating a story. Once that is admitted, his boat will be swiftly taking water that the mainstream media bilge pumps will not be able to bail out.

Ok, thanks. The media surely does not emphasize this point. Could it be they're biased? /sarcasm>
